hydroquinone

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with this chemical? I am receiving facial electrolysis and my operator gave me some free stuff to use. The reason she gave is for the sun damage I have on the side of my face that was from before electrolysis (prolonged open car window sort of sun damage). But she recommends that I use the lotion on my whole face once a day. How safe is it to use, the bottle says to just use it on affected areas? And I guess I am wondering if she might be giving me this as an excuse because my electrolysis has caused my face to have prolonged redness where she did work. My upper lip is pretty much red all week long, although somewhat diminishing in redness as the week progresses. Thoughts? For what other reasons would you give a client this and am I being paranoid?

tks,
Angie

Sounds like that to me. Are there other electrologists in your area you can try? I was going to one and my face was red for several days after after only 1 hour of treatment. I started going to another and we often do up to 4 hours (sometimes with 2 electrologists at the same time) and the reaction clears in a day or two.

Sorry I dont know anything about the chemical though.

I don’t think that’s why. Most likely she felt you could benefit from it. That’s not miracle stuff remember, your pigment blemishes can be minimized with it, but they’ll return as soon as you start getting more sun exposure.

hydroquinone is a suspected carcinogen.

it is widely believed to be associated with skin cancer if you use it and allow your treated skin to be exposed to sunlight.

if you use it, avoid sun exposure at all costs.

many hydroquinone preparations are blended with sunblock.
