How to prepare hair for electrolysis.

I pluck all my hair daily, I’m assuming I need to let it grow out a little for electrolysis. Is this necessary if so how much. Also after getting treatments is it better to pluck or shave in between treatments.
Thanks.

Hi Hot’
You can’t pluck the hair because the hair is the thing that needs to be zapped along with the root. The electrologist (is that what they’re called?) needs to be able to see where the hair is to do that. I’ve been trimming my hairs which I find makes them quite noticeble so I’ve combined this with very gently rubbing my face with one of those soft sandpaper thingy’s that are specially for facial hair removal. It doesn’t really take the hair off but seems to thin them out a little. Its gentler than a pumice stone which I use to smooth the hairs on my legs between shaving. DON’T RUB TOO HARD! It’ll leave a nasty rash or cause you to breakout. 4 Small circles clockwise and 4 small circles anti-clockwise - very slowly. Try not to use it too often - about once every four to five days or so.

I’m only telling you what seems to work for me. I was also told that I could use a cream hair remover but I found this to be too harsh for my face and when I didn’t burn myself with it I found it left my face looking shiny, puffy and red.

Please be aware that I had previously experienced a very nasty rash from the facial buffer that I bought so you really need to be extremely gentle and only do a small area at a time.

What I also do is try and book my electrolysis sessions once a week so that she can zap them before I get tempted to pluck them.

Good luck with the electrolysis!

Hi,

I cut hair and shave in-between appointments. Once treatement has commenced, you cannot pluck or wax (it defeats the whole purpose).

Cheers,

EB

What I also do is try and book my electrolysis sessions once a week so that she can zap them before I get tempted to pluck them.

This is what I did too. I cut the hairs with a small scissor in between appointments. It was hard for the first month, because I had new growth coming in every 2-3 days, but I used some coverup to hide it.

But soon enough the amount of hair coming in reduces, and it doesn’t come in as fast anymore either.

Hi…

Between the treatment it better to shave then plugging(Which is no no…)
Hope this helps!!!

I think you mean “plucking” rather than “plugging” <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
