hi everyone,
i’ve had three laser hair removal treatments on my chest and stomach, male of indian origin. my last treatment was about four weeks ago. i am actually really happy with the reduction i have achieved (i was aiming for reduction rather than complete hair removal), except i have noticed that there are spots of regrowth of hair that is longer and darker than other hairs. as the hair is growing now, these darker spots are more apparent. i still have six treatments left in my package. what would be the best way forward. do i continue with more treatments or wait a further four weeks. also, how long should i leave it between treatments in order to gain the best possible results. as i said i am aiming for reduction, as i would still like there to be some hair remaining, especially vellus hair.
Vellus hair will not be treated by lasers. It is too fine and too light.
Your example clearly demonstrates that packages are of advantage mainly to their vendors.
BTW: if You have some spots left You like to have to be treated, why do You think of ending the treatments?
IMO the best time interval between treatments is the time the hair needs to develop its new steady state. This is usually somewhat longer than the time intervals recommended by the laser and IPL studios.
hi, thanks for replying to my post. i was thinking of ending treatments because i only want to have reduction (not complete removal). i know people go back to have top-up treatments done each year, but i am happy to keep some hair (as long as it is vellus hair) i will not be shaving at all after my last treatment. if i don’t shave and i have reached a point where i am happy to end treatment, then that would be something i would like to do. luckily, the clinic allow me to transfer the remaining balance of the package to other areas or other treatments, which is good. any minor spots of missing areas i would happy to use a home laser machine to clean up.
you said that vellus hairs will not be treated by laser. how do the vellus hairs come. are they the same hairs that use to be thick hairs which the laser destroyed or are they new hairs that have grown.
thank you again for replying to my post. it is very helpful to have someone else’s opinion. thank you.
You’re not waiting long enough to judge true reduction at this point. Before making any decisions, wait at least 10 weeks from your last treatment. If you decide to treat again, wait another 12 weeks next time. After that, if only a few areas bother you, even them out with electrolysis.
hi, thanks for replying to my message. could you please advice on this please, as i’m not too sure what to do:
after my third treatment, i noticed lines of missed hair. These lines of hair grew within a week as if there were not treated. my therapist retreated these line but she also applied the laser to the area around the lines. After a month, my regrowth has come through but i have noticed there are areas where hair is not growing. These areas are where my therapist retreated me. The rest of my areas have normal regrowth subject to the usual patchiness that you expect from laser.
the problem is that i am happy with the level of hair reduction i have for my upper body (expect for those retreated areas), so what do i do. i was thinking that i could wait a long time and then have one more treatment to even out those retreated areas. not sure what the best thing is to do. i wish my therapist had only retreated the missed lines and not the areas around it.
