Hi guys I thought I would make a post about my facial hair problem and the negative effects it’s having on my confidence and social life. I feel very alone in this as none of my friends have any facial hair and kind of feel a need to discuss it with someone. I’m 21 years old and have facial hair on my chin, neck & now some on my chest. It has gotten to the point where I’m so embarrassed to even be in the daylight all I want to do is be alone in my room because I feel so disgusting and different from all females. I recently went to my doctor because it has made me incredibly depressed and i now have an appt with an endocrinologist. I also had a consultation with an electrolygist two days ago and will begin my first session tomorrow for 45 minutes. The appointment went well and she gave me a little hope that we can fix this problem. I will have to admit the chin isn’t very painful but areas on my neck were very uncomfortable and to be quite honest I’m very nervous about my appointment. I really hope this will help because I’m so tired of being alone and sad.
Well aren’t you a fabulous 21 year old!
You have a problem.
You address your problem.
You seek professional assistance.
You know no other females with excessive facial hair?
I was born and raised in New York City and all I had to do was find a Greek neighborhood or the Italian neighborhood and badaboom, plenty of hairy comrades! So if I were young today, I would visit and bond with the newer hairy immigrants, the east Indian women and Hispanic women. Who are your neighbors? Could they be hiding their facial hair?
All you have to do is go to your local drug store and you will see shelves of hair removal products targeting females. Did you know that salons generate much of their income from administering hair removal? What I am saying here is, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Ask your electrologist if she knows of any other female clients who would like to share their story with you.
Being nervous about your appointment sounds natural.
Navigate this website and you will get enough information on how to determine if you are getting good treatments. Ask the electrologists questions.
Yes, some areas might be more sensitive but there are ways to make treatments more comfortable.
Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day, get a good night’s sleep to start with.
Keep us posted on your experiences; there are lots of people here to connect with and you won’t feel lonely here.
