How much plucking is acceptable?

So I’ve gone through three electrologists now, with varying experiences, all using blend:

  • Electrologist #1: Would only use the lowest settings, I would barely feel anything from the needle itself and the hairs were 100% being plucked out. Nope.
  • Electrologist #2: Would spend up to a minute on individual hairs, hitting them sometimes upwards of ten times until the hair would come out with absolutely no resistance. I have no doubt the hairs won’t be growing back, but it absolutely wrecked my skin. Nope.
  • Electrologist #3 (current): Turns up settings high enough that I’m able to feel a respectable zap with the needle. Hairs come out maybe 60% effortless, 10% noticeable plucking, and 30% “half-plucking” - where there is definitely some small amount of resistance that I feel but nothing close to what I felt before.

How acceptable is my current electrologist’s approach? I’m specifically wondering about these “half-plucked” hairs and how bad it is to be feeling some minor but noticeable amount of resistance from pulling hairs out.

Plucking is not ideal, so I would expect less than 1% to account for human error. If you have other options to try, then you should. If your current electrologist is the best option and only one you can reasonably see, then you may have to accept less than ideal treatment. You can of course mention that you feel plucking and see if she changes her approach to reduce the plucking.
