How many laser treatments for beard removal

I know seems like nothing, on my 3rd beard removal, the first was like 6 weeks apart from second session, the third session was 8 weeks. The beard good as nearly grew back fully, very patchy on the chin.

The lady who is doing my treatment tried to convince me to come in every 4 weeks, which I haven’t as there was no hair to laser, so a waste of money + results, so hence leaving it for 8 weeks when it mostly has grown back.

When the hair falls out, does that mean it’s gone forever or will it even temporary fall out if the energy setting is too low? How many treatment in total do you think beards need?

Btw, I am having a yag laser used on my skin.

infinite number of sessions, over an infinite number of years. That’s my best answer. You are right to spread out the sessions, but laser will never remove all your beard no matter how may sessions you have.

I think the same Seana.

TY Adrien, but I’d like to expand on what I’ve said to demonstrate what I’m talking about.Honestly I think I came across as a little off the cuff without showing anything that shows what I am talking about.

This is a picture several years prior to any laser or electrolysis:

This picture represents the effect 4 months after ceasing laser amounting to a dozen sessions over more than a year long period. Ignore the scabbed clear area under the chin and look at the rest of the neck( this is from a poorly done first attempt at galvanic electrolysis) , and what is visible of the front of the chin. See how some areas look almost clear, and others like they havent even been touched? That moth-eaten look, is the result of that year of laser. And as you can see it does look patchy. Is this the patchy effect you are talking about?

For comparison, this picture, is the same face after less than 9 months of electrolysis:

The majority of the hairs should shed after every treatment. This does NOT necessarily mean they are destroyed. Some hairs will be deeper and require more energy than others to successfully disable the hair root. The neck in particular has especially deep follicles and requires more energy to destroy the hair follicle.I’m often criticised that I give laser an unfair judgement, however unfortunately the effects on myself and just about every person I know who has undergone the treatment, have been the same. Skill of the operator will have some effect, but by and large the outcome is pretty predictable.

Depends how much you want gone. If you want every hair gone, it won’t happen. If you’d like a large reduction, it is certainly possible using aggressive settings. If it’s growing patchy, your practitioner doesn’t sound like she’s doing a great job. When I did mine, I went in about every 6-8 weeks. The upper lip and chin tend to be the most stubborn. In general, for a large reduction provided they’re using strong settings, expect 6-8 treatments.

Thank you for sharing your photos Seana. As you demonstrate with your case, only electrolysis can provide a permanent hair removal and the results of laser treatment are unpredictable.
With laser (depending on settings) you can hope a reduction in the treating area, but you have to keep doing sessions to maintain the results.
