I am currently doing electrolysis on my back, and it’s a pretty difficult job, seeing as my back is pretty much covered with hair. I had planned to start a lot sooner than this, but I just kept on pushing it aside and not doing it, which I completely regret. I am currently going to electrolysis three days a week for one-hour appointments. I do the procedure without medication because medication is not healthy, and I endure the pain, even though it is very painful. What I feel would be more painful though is prolonging the journey. I still have other areas to do, and therefore would like to proceed as quickly as possible so I may be able to get all other areas done in good time. In the duration of an hour, she does an area that is about the size of a card (as in a deck of cards). I was thinking about doing two hours three days a week (every two weeks, though, I do an hour on my face so on one day every two weeks I will do an hour on my face and one hour on my back which will means that on some weeks I will only do 5 hours instead of 6.) My main concern is not the pain but the time. I know your prediction might not be fully accurate, given you are not doing the electrolysis for me, but I was wondering if I were to do the three days a week-two hour appointments, how long will it take to finish off my back for good? Also, I have other areas I would like to do. My face (chin, sides of the face, upper lip), full arms, stomach, and chest/shoulders. How long do you think it would take to finish off everything if I keep with the three days a week two hour appointment thing. I have listed links for pictures of some areas that I wish to do. Thanks.
Honestly, you have quite a bit of hair to remove. One thing I would advise you to consider is potentially doing arms with laser since the hair seems coarse enough. You can at least reduce the amount there by 50% or so with a few treatments.
You can calculate yourself how long this will take. Basically, it takes about 12 months of regular treatments after your first clearance. So the first level you want to achieve is that clearance on each area. Considering the timing, I would pick two areas that bother you most and do those instead of trying to do everything at once. There is just not enough free time in a week to do this unless you want to be very committed and do 6-8 hour appts.
So, if I were you, I would do several 4-6 hour appts using numbing cream and a painkiller (I understand your desire not to take medication, but think about it this way. Is electrolysis natural and healthy? It’s really not any different since you’re killing natural hair follicles with chemicals and heat). Once you get a clearance, things will be easier as you will be coming in to just kill any new hairs that pop up while they’re still new and weak. So you’ll always have the area look clear.
Your other options is to wax these areas once and then come in as soon as new hairs pop up to get ALL of them right away. That can get you a good head start on the process for these large areas and you’ll be able to do shorter appts.
Btw, aren’t you the one who has PCOS? Are you not on medication for it?
Oh, how I wish “they” would invent a magic cream that would permanently destroy hair follicles. You do have a lot of hair. You have got to address the medical side of this if you have not already. Please do your best to keep your story on one thread or put pertinent information in your signature so we can take a quick glance at specifics that would be important to know. Pretty Please?
You have got to choose one area and go fast and strong. I would assume that area would be your face. Temporary measures could be used on body areas. Laser reduction for your arms while you are devoting attention to your facial areas. Once a laser regime is completed, then your face may be under good control and you could finish your arms with electrolysis. Do not lase your face!
Your back hair looks too thin for laser unfortunately, stomach, too.
You are looking at a 2? 3? 4? years of weekly electrolysis care as you described you are getting now.
Please tell us what your medical status is with all this hair. That’s got to be addressed now.
You CAN get this job done! I’m male, 33 years old and I have(had) much more hair than you. I’ve been working on my back, upper & inner arms, shoulders, neck (front and back) for 4.5 months and have completed about 80 hours so far. I have 2 electrologists work on me at the same time once a week for 2 hours and also go for a 2 hour solo once a week so i’m getting a total of 6, sometimes 7hours/week done. I’ve gotten to full clearance, including going over regrowth a few times during this time. I’ll over-estimate and say that at most i’ll need another 120 hours to finish. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy and hurts.
I recommend that you find a place that has more than one electrologists (experienced and fast)if you can and have 2 work on you at the same time and try to do no less than 2 hours at a time. If you have the time, money and dedication - IT CAN BE DONE!
To answer your orginal question directly: I estimate that you could be done in 12 months if you avg. around 4 hours/week
