How long were you red after laser treatment ??

Hello all!

I was hoping some of you could tell me how long your redness lasted after the treatment? I had my consultation two days ago and had a test patch done (cutera laser). I still have some blotchy pink/redness. Is this normal? How long does it typically last? I am caucasion with pale skin and it is dark hair. I have my first full session scheduled for tomorrow so on the lower half of my face so I am concerned.

It is not sensitive and doesn’t itch and is not painful or raised or anything like that (and I have sensitive skin). The blotchiness seemed to develop overnight after the treatment. I would love to know what your experiences were.

Thanks!!

it can last up to 2-3 days. you should wait to see if/when it resolves before having any treatments. have you addressed this question to the clinic? what did they say?

Cutera makes mostly Yag lasers. May I ask why you want to use a Yag if you have pale skin? Also, what type of hair do you have? Is it coarse or fine? How much of it on your face? I assume you’re female, correct? How many places did you check out? Did you do research on why you have that hair in the first place and best way to remove it? have you read the FAQs here?

The first time I got laser treatment I think I was a little pink but it went away after a few hours.

After my second appointment, my skin was purple. I am so glad I chose to wear pants because I wouldn’t have gone out in public looking like that. It was slightly alarming, but the dark purple was gone that night. My follicles stayed red for at least another day or two.

I am a guy, so the coarse facial hair really heats up and gets my skin agitated. I get treatments on Friday afternoon, so I get the longest possible recovery before going to the office. You can search around here, but it appears to me that everyone varies considerably from an hour to several days. Be prepared for a long time and be glad when it is less. My face is only slightly red, but sometimes I swell up as well (for 2 hours) and I think the hair shedding appears abnormal as well for 10 days or so. Benedryl (for swelling) and Aloe gel are just wonderful!
