How long to grow for?

I am having my legs started on soon and have been asked to not shave etc for several months beforehand which is fine but it got me wondering, if the hair can only really be killed in the anagen stage, surely it only needs 4-6 weeks of growth for all the hair visible and present at that time? Therefore say if I had 3 months of growth, wouldn’t some of that be a waste of time in being treated as it wouldn’t be in anagen stage?
Or is that wrong?
I suppose what I’m asking is if we are going for the 3 stage attack on this, does it really need 3 months worth of growth?

I guess she’s trying to get all the hair to come in the same cycle as each other.
I normally go once a month for treatment if I go early or later I sometimes get hair coming back in shortly after treatment I’d not too bad now as they come back pale.
Nightmare in summer but if you can I’d leave for 2 months.
Love to hear from some electrolysis on this though since I though shaving did nothing to the hair.
On the UK electrolysis site it recommends if people do want to maintain during treatment to shave use dipilator cream or cut short and then leave for 3-5 days before treatment so that the hair can be seen.
I does say that you should not wax epilate or tweeze during treatment anything that takes the hair from the root.
I have my upper lip done I have electrolysis leave it 2 weeks use dipilator cream and then go back again 2 weeks later for electrolysis.
The upper lip is only a recent area I added some comes in quicker than the other areas.

Hairs can be treated in other stages as well.

If you want less hairs to be treated, let it grow for 4 - 6 weeks. But three months of hair will mean more hair gets treated.

Really depends on the electrologist who is performing your treatment. Telogen follicles can be ‘killed’ providing the electrologist knows how to adjust the treatment for these follicles. Even electrologists who claim that only anagen follicles can be killed probably kill some telogen follicles without realising!

Leaving the hair alone for a minimum of 3 months allows as much of it to be present as possible, then the electrologist can get working on clearing all the visible hairs (whether they are in anagen or telogen). Let’s say the electrologist clears ALL these hairs and ALL those follicles are killed… you will get an amazing reduction in hairs from just that one clearance. This is what Josefa demonstrates again and again.

Ok so I am calculating I will have about 10 weeks growth by the time my appointment comes through.
Will that be enough do you think for a good result for the first round?

It really depends on how you are having your treatment/s done. If you are getting your legs treated over a couple of weeks then it doesn’t make much difference as the electrologist can treat any hairs that come up. Also the results depend on how effective the electrologist’s work is. You will obviously have growth from follicles where hair was not present at the start of your treatment come up over weeks/months after the start of treatment. Not immediately, but later this can also be regrowth from follicles that were treated but not killed.

I’ve written about getting a test patch done more times than I can remember. I do hope you’ve come across one of those posts and have thought about it, if you are having work done by someone whose results are not proven.
