how long does it take?

Hi guys,
I am starting a new electrologist since I felt like my previous electrologist whom i have been going for 8 months did not do a good job since I still need to pluck just as much as before. I do see patches where there is no hair but for the most part they are there after 8 months.
I have pcos which makes the beard hair on my face very coarse. It is bad enough with this disease that you have to deal with swindlers :(.

I wanted to know how long a session is needed to remove the hair of the entire face, I am not asking the entire time duration but only within a session how long it takes like 1hr /2 hr so i can guage the skill of my electrologist. I have sparse but coarse hair but not like a mans beard but not peach fuzz like many women. Somewhere in between chin side burns upper lip below neck everywhere:(

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A quick question to establish what has gone wrong with your previous treatment, have you been tweezing the hairs while having electrolysis treatments?

Stop plucking and tweezing. You’re only making it worse.

Ditto to the STOP TWEEZING! A colleague of mine has the following sign in her office: ONLY TWEEZE THE HAIRS YOU WANT TO KEEP

Tweezing hides the hair from the electrologist. I can’t treat hairs that have been hidden from me by client tweezing…

PCOS can mean that you might produce hairs from hair follicles that have been dormant for a long time. Stop tweezing and get rid of the hairs that you currently grow. Know that you might need a little clean up on occasion throughout the rest of your life.

I’m so printing this sign out and posting it on my wall tomorrow!

Thanks for you replies I am learning a lot here.

what do u do between sessions? She is not able to even clear my chin in 1 hr session so it is not a question of there is not enough hair to treat or the hairs are hiding . The problem is she cannot clear my face at all.

Why are you all so against tweezing (which by the way she did not tell me) other than the fact that the tweezed hair is not visible in a session.

Shave between sessions. Allow enough growth so that the electrologist can grasp the hairs. The length might be one-eighth to one-quarter of an inch…The time it takes to grow this could be 24 - 48 (or more) hours.

When you tweeze a hair, you are not only hiding it from the electrologist, but THAT tweezed hair may not grow back for months. Sometimes, the hairs are simply broken off and do show up sooner, but that prevents the electrologist from analyzing their own work - if I see signs of broken (or tweezed) hairs, then I am asking them if they have tweezed (yes, sometimes the client will lie about this) and if I really believe them, then I must determine if I am doing something wrong.

Also, I believe that repeated tweezing of terminal hairs can result in several things. 1. Larger diameter hairs. 2. Ingrown hairs. 3. Acne and pitted skin from client picking.

Ask your electrologist if you should tweeze between appointments. Perhaps she forgot to mention that to you.

We advise no tweezing or anything that pulls out hair so you get finished as soon as possible. It takes three hair growth cycles or a minimum of nine months for every hair to come the the surface just one time. If you want to become frustrated with the lack of response to your electrolysis treatments, keep tweezing. In the future, don’t bemoan the fact that the electrolysis doesn’t work if you have been tweezing between appointments.

Shave between appointments. Clipping is okay, too.

I would really question the competence of your therapist, if all this tweezing went unnoticed for so long. Tweezing is probably the cause of most of the hair you now have.

“In the future, don’t bemoan the fact that the electrolysis doesn’t work if you have been tweezing between appointments.”

I do belive in electrolysis my mom’s face is hair free now. She lives in india and got it done there(it is extremely cheap there and incredibly close by).She some how forgot to tell me if she shaved. She said she would just go and have them removed since it is close by to the house so she never shaved.

I am in the US electrolysis is very expensive here so the skill of the electrologist is very important since time is money in this case.

I went to another electrolgist to try out. She is very good. She said thermolysis is better since that is the quickest and more hair can be removed in a sitting which was true since she removed all hair on my face except the upper lip and down area for which I will go again.

Also how long does it take to clear entire arms. I have not shaved or done anything with that hair for 6 months. Wear full arm mostly :(.
