Hi,
I’m having electrolysis treatment on my chest area and the only side effects I’ve experienced so far are hyper pigmentation, which I’ve read is temporary and will fade in time. However, after my last treatment a week ago, I noticed a small pit/indent at the top of my chest area (noticed it in the shower this morning). I’m not really concerned, as it’s one small pit and I’m going to discuss it with my electrolysist at my appointment this week.
However, I was just wondering if it’s possible for pitting to show itself after less than a week? Is pitting always a result of over treatment? The treatment was extremely painful, but the settings were the same as she always uses and she even put the current down this time!
Did you have thermolysis?
Did large pimple sized scabs form in the area?
Were the scabs picked off?
Sure it is possible for pitting to occur but this is rare.
Most of the time, the skin returns to normal with naturally occurring cell renewal. Both you and your electrologist will have to work together to minimize tissue trauma and review your aftercare. Talk to your electrologist.
Even though her settings were the same, you change from week to week and so does the environment.
(Moisture and Hydration)
Electrologists have to compensate and modify their settings.
Are you icing the area immediately following your treatment? This usually minimizes hyperpigmentation.
Hi Arlene,
Thanks for the reply. To answer your questions, I currently have blend on the area. I do get scabs forming in the area, but they’re fairly small, so not large pimple sized. The vast majority of my scabs have not fallen off yet from my last treatment and I never ever pick them. I may have have dislodged the scab when washing the area or applying moisturiser (I am very gentle when treating this area though!). I never ice the area following treatment. I’ll discuss it with my electrolysist at my next appt.
Still, I don’t think the pain has anything to do with settings. The chest area is a LOT more painful than the face.
Just thinking back to my last appointment, I was extremely dehydrated. Could that have played a role?
