How long do sessions take GentleLase & CynoSure

Hello,

I have been shopping around for an alexandrite laser hair clinic in Toronto. I tried seven sessions with the Soprano XL because it was low pain but I had poor results.

I found two clinics, one with a Candela Gentlelase and the other with a Cynosure Elite system. During the consultation with the clinic with the Gentlelase they said it would take 90 minutes with the 18mm head to do my full torso (arms, chest, stomach, back, shoulders, back of neck). During the consultation with the Cynosure Elite system they said it would take 2.5 hours to do the same area (with what I am assuming is the 15mm head, i forgot to ask…).

90 minutes seems kind of short but what do you all think? Im not that tall, about 5"9.

Thanks

90 minutes doesn’t seem too short to me and seems like what I would expect the Cynosure to take as well. 2.5 hours is so long not sure how it could possibly take that long. The difference with 18mm and 15mm isn’t that great, not enough to make the treatment that much different time wise. What are the two clinics?

The gentlelase clinic is called clean slate beauty. The Cynosure clinic is called Evropa. Both are in downtown Toronto but I can not vouch for either clinic.

Thanks

Been to both. Clean Slate is terrible went there with my friend and she burned his stomach. He’s asian so alexandrite is not good for his skin type and he had red marks everywhere all over. Plus him and I would go for the same area like our stomach and be charged 2 different prices. I had gone once and asked for stomach pricing and they told me $150 or something or maybe even $200, I forget was 2 years ago but I remember that the place I was going to before then was $100 for that area so whatever price they told me was way more expensive. Anyway a week later my best friend goes for an area and during his treatment asked them how much to do his stomach and she said it’s $50! So he did it. So I emailed them after asking if it was a mistake, because $50 and $150 is a big difference, and they told me I was wrong, that he did his happy trail only not full stomach. So I sent them the picture of his stomach showing that they had, and that not only did he have bad red marks everywhere but there was no overlapping at all. Their response was just that the tech was feeling generous that day. So neither of us ever went back. Before that as well she had also told me that it’s cheaper to do multiple areas at the same session than to spread them out so that that helps with pricing. That really pissed me off because I DID to multiple areas with them, however THEY wanted me to do them all on separate days and not together, so couldn’t believe that.

Evropa is where I’ve done almost all my treatments. Dragica is amazing and very through and also super inexpensive. Can’t recommend them enough. She uses stamps that mark a grid to make sure she covers all the area and if anything is missed she’ll touch it up for free if you go back.

I really don’t think it will take 2.5 hours though it’s pretty fast. I find Apogee Elite is faster than GentleLASE because GentleLASE you fire, lift move over fire, lift move over, fire etc. Apogee you basically glide it over the area while it keeps firing pulses.

With The Gentlelase 1.5 hours seems correct. With the New GentlelasePRO or
GentlemaxPRO it would take 1 hour.

By the way, Cynosuse just came out with their version of the Candela device. It is called the ElitePLUS. It does 2 pulses a second with 18 spot at 20 Joules continuous.
We just bought one of them.

Is that different from the Elite MPX? Don’t see it on their website or Google anywhere?

Yes the Elite+ is faster at higher fluences. Laser was announced by
Cynosure on March 15th. You can see the press release.

Thanks for the info. I have to go for my consult @ Evropa cause I have only talked to them on the phone.

I was a little worried about the Clean Slate Beauty tech… I told her I had some sessions with the Soprano… she had no idea what the soprano was. She did one pulse on my shoulder and told me to wait a couple of weeks to see the hair shed… but one pulse isn’t going to do anything… you got to do some overlap!

I will definitely head down to Evropa.

Yeah I remember having a similar test patch performed. I wanted to do laser on my beard but was worried that it would burn or something so I asked for a test patch. She did like 12mm and fired one single shot!

I also tried the Soprano XL in Toronto at 2 different clinics. The results are horrible…after 8 treatments it looks like everything comes back if you don’t shave the area two months after treatment. Very, very dissapointed…Soprano is pain free, and there is some shedding afterwards, but most of the hair comes back. It looks like I never had any laser hair removal as I have a hairy chest and stomach once again…lol I’m also a perfect candidate for laser hair removal with dark hair and light skin. The online Soprano package deals look like they are great, but the results are terrible.

Any suggestions as to what laser I should use? I think Alexandrite laser would be best for me, but I know it’s more expensive and I don’t want to go somewhere and waste my money. If anyone knows a good place around Toronto let me know. Thanks.

We have heard complaints about the Soprano over the years, much as you attest to. Go for an alexandrite laser if your hair is coarse, dense and dark hair on pale skin. It should hurt. Permanent hair removal or reduction is not pain-free.

Soprano shed all my hair, it all grew back plus some stimulated and more apparent. The hair i would say in certain areas is finer. I treated upper arms and back but there is definitely more. Id personally say electrolysis if you can find someone speedy. I won’t ever recommended electrolysis to anyone ever again. It seems there are one too many cases like mine.
