how effective is soprano laser

Hello,

i’m planning to get LHR on my upper lip(black coarse hair) and clinic where i’m going uses SOPRANO laser…
does anyone had treatments with this type of laser?
i’ll really appreciate if you could share your treatment results…
is it ok to go for LHR if i have been using acne medications or benzoyle peroxide on the area to be treated? or should i wait?
thanks

What is your skin type? That’s how you choose the right machine.

Soprano is a diode and is ok. There are better machines out there in my opinion.

You should avoid using any photosensitive medications while doing laser.

my skin type is type4 cause i’m asian… i think thats how u decide ur skin type…
through these forums, i was advised that going for electrolysis is better idea(treatment area is upper lip with coarse black hair)…
what r ur thoughts on this?

It depends on how coarse and dense it is. If a lot of the coarse hair is mixed in with fine hair, you might as well go for electrolysis first because you will need it regardless to finish. Laser won’t be able to target all of the hair you have there.

I’m currently doing soprano too. I’ve only had 1 treatment 9 weeks ago on my hands and I’m going in again next week. They did about 40 joules on single pulse mode. I think that might be best for you, try to go for the highest settings your skin can handle safely though. Not all of the hair shed for me which sucks, but I still think it had some good effect.

People who use it make the mistake of using wayyy too low settings. That’s the whole “Soprano is painless” bullcrap marketing strategy. Trust me it should hurt.

Just to help you give an idea of how coarse your hair should be etc. here’s what i had before

now 9 weeks after 1 treatment.

looking at it now I think it’s pretty good for 1 try. Hopefully edokid can chime in as well 'cause he has the most experience with soprano.

imageshack pics are coming up as viruses. maybe you can use photobucket instead.

Ok they should be visible now.

Your hair is not very coarse originally, but you should get at least some result. It should get finer at least.

Didn’t even notice this thread sorry! I don’t really have the most experience with Soprano I’ve only used it once. I thought you were referring to the actual Soprano which I’ve never used, didn’t know you meant Soprano XL.

In terms of the pain free thing, in single pulse mode you’d want to feel it since it’s like a LightSheer then but no one would use single pulse unless it’s a tough area like face or feet etc. The rapid fire mode does not hurt from my experience. On my underarms it got mildly uncomfortable after a few minutes but it’s a different pain from a laser, it feels more like heat. I’d describe it like putting a heating pad on your underarms tight to the skin then turning it on. You slowly feel it get warmer and warmer and then at the end your skin feels really hot, but not a stinging or snapping feeling or anything like that. My legs I felt nothing at all not even the heat. Also unless they were lying to me, I was told I was treated at the highest settings which is 120 joules, however that works. I did underarms once and full legs once and would never do it again, waste of money in my opinion.

I saw on Groupon recently a place had $89 for 4 or 6 laser treatments with Soprano, it was areas like upper lip, underarms, feet etc all small places. Or you could combine then and do 2 or 3 forearms etc. I almost got it just because I figure $89 for that many treatments is cheap as hell but it needed something like 6 people to buy it to get the deal and only 3 did!
