horrible reaction to epilator

hi everyone… remember me? yeah… i got the already dark tinted neck from cheap jewlery and i got a few dark hairs on my chest/neck area and the whole area is covered in very fine (almost unnoticeable) hair… anyway, i usually just bleach the whole area and that was fine… but just reacently i figured “hey why not try the epilator”… i have had it for a while and i rarely use it… i have only used it on my hands and feet (i.e small areas)… so yeah i tried it on my neck/chest area… the pain wasnt too bad… but the reaction!! oh my god… my skin reacted in tomatoe redness (of which i was like ok, thats normal) but then the redness didnt go away for two days and now that area is covered in small red pimples… it is seriously hiddeous and it is itchy… my mom noticed it and yelled at me for being stupid and trying to get rid of hair that barely showed in the first place!.. jeez… i screwed up big time this time… i put aleo vera gel on for two days and today i whiped over with like face toner and now i put like a clay mask i use for my face on my chest… just to see if i can get rid of the pimples that appeared…

this totally sucks… i love fashion and i love being able to express my attitude with my clothes and i love shirts and tank tops that show alot of neck (and chest i guess)…but i cant wear them because i got this crap all over me!!.. i swear hair is life damaging and emotional and psychologically draining.

its been three days and i am hoping i can get my clear skin back (i am guessing the epilated hair will return as well)…and life continues

lesson for everyone: becareful not to use epilator on very sensitive areas or if you have sensitive skin

lesson 2: just be happy with who you are and how you look and accept. (i am still trying to do the accepting part)

Sorry to hear about the problems! I usually recommend rotary epilators only on arms and legs. I can’t even use them on my upper legs for the reasons you cite.

One thing that can help with bumps is to cleanse the area before and after with Tend Skin or alcohol, then do the gel. Also make sure to clean the rotary heads.

thank you andrea for your help. i’ll be sure to continue and do whatever it takes to make these bumbs heal quickly.

they will heal and go away right?

should i expect scars?

oh dear.

Scars are unusual. Don’t pick at the bumps or scabs, and keep the areas out of the sun till it resolves.

thank you so much andrea!! your the best!.. its been like 3 days since my last post and the area has improved… THANK GOD!.. although some of the bumbs have white puss in them… but i am doing a good job at not touching them and keeping them clean with soap and gel and all that.

just an update so others who want to use the epilator on sensitve areas can see how long the damage has stayed with me… it is now october 18th, and my reaction happened a while ago… so its taking a while to heal… there are a couple of marks left and scabs that fall off alone. all i do is keep the area clean and when it gets itchy add aleo vera gel.
