His and her Brazilians. Our experience thus far.

First, hello to the forum members.
I’ve found a couple of laser hair discussion boards and this seems to be a far more active and helpful community.

A bit of background. Married 23 years. 46 and 44 years old. Two teens at home. Both business suit professionals.
We’ve been shaving ourselves ans\d/or each other for about 5-6 years. I love the smooth look and feel on both of us. For me, with tough skin I can shave, epilate or whatever with no bother. She has terrible ingrowns and chafing that she’s tolerated.

She found a Valentines Day laser special 5 months ago and wanted to start with underarms. She spoke to them and worked a deal and said to me…“If you’ll do the full Brazilian laser I will too”.

After the first armpit and Brazilian treatment she added full legs so will have laser from the chin down, all off…my dream.

About me, as a male I considered this a long time. It is a lifetime decision. I’ve shaved it all off around the pubic area for years and have epilated for about two years. We went together and after four trips there could not be happier. Results exceed expectations, to understate it. Her lack of chafing and my never-again ingrowns are a joy.

Apogee Elite dual band with 755-nm Alexandrite laser and the 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser.

The 755-nm is perfect for her type-2 light skin/dark body hair.
The 755-nm burned me a bit on my darker scrotal skin and peri-anal area. I knew laser would hurt and tried to be too tough and tolerated what amounted to some skin burning. Switching to the 1064 YAG on my second trip for the more pigmented type 4 skin areas I have prevented the blisters from the first treatment…perfect.

We found a buy 4/get 6 pricing deal and got a further price break for the multiple areas we’re getting done together.

The place is treating us every 6 weeks, closer than most I’ve read, but the promotional pricing gives us free-forever touchups. Quite a deal so I am not worried about the shorter than usual interval between treatments.

So far, after four treatments, most recently five weeks ago:

Her arm pits seem, amazingly 100% gone. I can find a rare fine hair. I know with time more will appear perhaps.

Her legs after two treatments…maybe still on the “hair holiday” but 60% reduction.

Her pubic hair…She’s a very light type-1 or 2 skin down there with very course dark hair. The dark thick ones are 100% gone. Her labia have a good number of fine light hairs that may be resistant but are invisible from three feet without good light and close inspection.

Me! My vanishing pubic hair.
I’m thrilled 90% gone. A few fine but dark hairs are coming in.

Fifth treatment for us both in a week.

I’ll update.

Fantastic experience, save the blisters on my darker areas from the 755nm the first time.

Money well spent thus far and it’s been a fantastic bonding experience for my lifetime committed monogamous life with my lovely wife.

Thanks so much for your feedback. Sounds like you did your research and are getting great results.

If you can, maybe you can post the name of the clinic and location so others here can benefit.

Also, do let us know how results look when you have a chance to wait 8-10 weeks. If I were you, I would just call and reschedule the appointment for later just so you can judge true reduction at least once. At 6 weeks, a bunch of the hair hasn’t yet appeared, so 90% reduction may be misleading.

You are welcome lagirl.

I’m at 7 weeks now.

They did the first couple only 4 weeks apart.
Most people would assert that that is way two close but we both had lots of laserable hairs.

Right now at 7 weeks post-fourth session I seem to have about 90% of the area with almost 90% gone and the remaining 10% with 75% gone…a result of maybe occasionally flawed overlapping the 18mm spot during the sessions.

I’ve come to look forward to the sessions.
Somewhat painful but with so gratifying a result.
My wife wears down under the necessary duration of the total legs.

Oh, somewhat disturbing to my wife are the scattered labial gray hairs, of which she was previously unaware, that I’m afraid will be resistant. Such is the onset of middle age.

Not a lot of guys putting themselves through the Brazilian thing.
I’m hairless for years already…now for good.

We both enjoy the process and the outcome thus far.

Apogee doesn’t have an 18mm spot size from what I know. I think their biggest is 15mm.

Your wife can consider electrolysis for the remaining gray and/or fine hairs.

Just a bit of follow-up. 5 weeks since session #5 for us both(4th for her legs).

Oh, yes… Apogee is 15 mm spot(not 18)I’m not good with the metric system.

Anyway,
The tech did a bit of a change that worked very very well.

Prior for me was Alexandrite 755nm for lighter skin and 1064 ND:YAG for my darker scrotal areas.
For some reason (experience I think) the tech used the 1064nm with a smaller spot size, higher fluence and more pulses everywhere on me.

I was initially underwhelmed, very little follicular erythema and at a week no obvious shedding. Now, 5 weeks after the 5th treatment I’m impressed and thrilled…the majority of the fine little resistant hairs just are not there. Heavy course hairs, of which I started out with plenty are gone.
I know it’s too soon to really tell, but I seem to have maybe 5% left at most, all tiny and fine.

My wife gets worn down by the duration of the treatments, being everywhere below her nostrils!
But, wow, is she pleased. Hasn’t picked up a razor in a month. Armpits zero. Legs almost completely smooth. Mons and inner thighs with rare dark hairs and the stubborn labia majora gray hairs that she hates still persist as no surprise. She’s not excited about electrolysis thoughts and I don’t mind a little tuft anyway. We’ll see.

#6 in 6 weeks

I just wish I could be tanning but don’t want to risk a burn again. With the 1064 that may not be such a concern anyway.

Both bare forever and loving it.

With the Yag, also try to make sure you’re getting treated at a large spot size, low pulse and as high of joule setting as your skin can safely handle. Thanks for the feedback as usual.
