I need some advice! I am a 30 year old female and have been dealing with excess hair all my life. I have always bleached the hair ony face. About 6 or 7 years ago I decided to try laser hair removal for my sideburns chin and jaw line. I think that shaving the area before treatments made the problem worse as I began noticing more and more hair on my jaw line and cheeks. I have been tweezing the hair for 5 years or so and have developed hyperpigmentation in the areas that I pluck the most. I decided to try electrokysis recently. The first electrologist I went to seemed good but I kept getting scabs after my treatments so after about 4 treatments I sought another electrologist. I tried a 30 minute session with another electrologist who also uses blend and says that blend is best for my type of hair (dark hairs some more coarse then others). She was really good and I had no scabbing after the treatment. Unfortunately she says because I have so much hair that the treatment could take 2 years or more. She recommends I use laser cause the hairs are dark and coarse. Or she says I could thread the hairs and when there is less hair she could finish with electrolysis. Ipreally don’t like the idea of threading cause I feel that it is going to make my skin hyperpigmentation worse. She says that it is not the tweezing that caused the hyperpigmentation but more likely the bleaching. Please help! I don’t know what to do.
Urg, that second electrologist is saying some incredibly nutty things.
Don’t go for more laser. Don’t thread or pluck (both can cause hyperpigmentation). Continue bleaching combined with trimming the hairs if you need to. Keep looking for a good electrologist.
Read the “ELECTROLYSIS INFORMATION ON SCABBING” thread as well.
Thanks! She did say she would do the electrolysis for me if I wanted. I’m just not sure if I should. If its actually going to take that long I want to make sure I have the money to finish the entire treatment.
