help with my electrologist!

what does it mean if my electrologist is a CT,LE?

Cosmetic Therapist, CT
Licensed Electrologist, LE

Is your electrologist a transplant from Ohio, by chance?

you know she did say she moved here couple years ago.Not sure if she said Ohio… but why do u ask?
and what is a cosmetic therapist?

A cosmetic therapist is the title that was chosen by the powers that be for those who were trained as electrologists at state approved electrolysis schools in Ohio. I think it’s confusing and I’m not particularly fond of such a title. Maybe someone else can explain it better, but I did the best I can as said.

Ask her, I’m sure she’d be happy to tell you. And ask her what she is required to do to maintain those initials. It will give you a better idea of her background.

Like Dee said, OH is the only state that I’ve ever heard using CT. But in CA it could stand for something completely different.

Correct me if I am wrong (would anyone else laugh with me if I said I have forgotten more than many people ever learned?) but didn’t Ohio once call their electrologists “Hypertritchologists” abbreviated H.T., or was that another state?

I don’t know about OH, but Connecticut was using H.T. at least in the 80’s when I was in school. Their licensing board was “Board of Examiners of Hypertrichologists” and a few years ago changed to “Board of Examiners of Electrologists,” so I assume they are now LEs rather than HTs.

Oh duh, what’s with all the titles, suffexes & such. I prefer not to work in a state where I’m regulated but maybe there is some advantage. It seems we regulate ourselves indirectly which is good. There were better things in the past as far as regulating people i believe. I do know the courts would not allow a woman to steal children from their biological father way back times ago. Forgive me for getting on that soapbox please. My suffix according to my checks has S.U. on them but someday CPE will replace it. Oh well God Bless you all for putting up with me.

The “advantage” to being licensed is that in return for your money and extra forced leg work, you get less competition. Anyone familliar with the term Monopoly? Funny thing is, most monopolistic actions in this industry only serve to limit, or extinguish the customer’s ability to find the service at all. In return for this reduction of choice, the consumer is not really getting any real increased protection, IMHO
