Help - Treatment and expected results? (pictures)

Hello everyone!

The hair on my back and shoulders is really preventing me from doing things in life that I would like to be doing. So I have decided it’s time to deal with it, but the problem is I’m clueless and I was hoping someone on here could help me.

I’m wondering what sort of treatment would be best for me based on these pictures, and what should I expect? How many treatments? What will it be like after the first treatment? Will it be like after a wax (hair completely gone until new hairs start growing), or what exactly? I never really understood this.

Here are the pictures (as the last picture shows it’s mainly my upper back/neck area/shoulders that are very hairy):

Thanks!

You have a “light to moderate” case and will probably not grow much more hair in the next few years (assuming you are about 25-years-old). (The key in your photo was the amount of hair at the base of your neck and lower back … not much. So, you are about “done” with growing it in. This is very good news for you.)

The first clearing should take no more than 20 hours, the second about 10 hours and then the final about 5: with electrolysis. Results are permanent … in that you will be hair-free for life. For the cost, it just depends on the hourly rate of your electrologist … there are PLENTY of excellent operators. Ask for an estimate and discuss “final results.”

A very important question to ask: “how many men’s backs have you completed?” The answer: “Oh, lots of them” … is not the right answer; try to get an actual number! If you get an actual count, then ask: “What is your average total time for completion.” Try to get solid answers. The statement: “Oh this will take a year,” is NO answer! You want hours.

If you decide laser … get something “in writing.” I have experienced WAY too many clients that spent thousands of dollars and were disappointed (ripped off). Be careful and select your operator carefully … there are LOTS of excellent suggestions imbedded here on Hairtell … start looking. (One client decided on laser for the beard removal … AND did get it in writing! Now that’s going to be interesting next year.)

One sort-of-humorous “aside” (for my colleagues here): I swim with a wonderful woman who is now starting her THIRD year of failed laser treatment for her facial hair. (She has spent about $2,000 so far.) All laser treatments failed, but she is now starting a NEW laser treatment (Alma). Yesterday I asked her, “why not electrolysis?” Her answer was (I kid you not): “Well, electrolysis ‘takes too long’.” (I sipped-up my wet-suit and dove in to swim with the sharks! Sharks I understand.)
