Help Me With London LASER Clinic Search

Hi,
I’m a 31 yr old male with dark black hair and skin which does brown easy but is fairly light at the moment.I’m trying to reduce the hair on my arms(full) and hands as it causes me alot of distress. The hair covering is thick and long and it covers the entire arms.I’ve always had a covering on my arms even as a child. I feel now it is time to sort this problem out,as i have left it control and restrict my life.I reside in London and wish to find the correct laser for me, not only this but a clinic that will respect the needs of a very shy and embarresed male confronting a problem that has become emotionally and mentally tiring.Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Since your skin is dark, you need a clinic with a Yag laser.

Please use the Advanced Search feature on this forum and run a search for “london”. There are several threads from other people in London discussinng and recommending several clinics.

Not wanting to contradict you lagirl, but I think zeller said his skin is fair at the moment…

In which case you probably want a Gentlelase. There are two places in London that i know of using that machine.
Laser clear in Liverpool st and Laser active in Cannon Street.

Go for it zeller. It sucks having to hide your arms, i know.
If you have really bad arm hair then you have nothing to loose. And you WILL get a reduction. Just be careful not to go all the way up your arms, as induced growth can be a problem.

I have just had my arms done for the first time this weekend and it feels great! I have had good results on my legs after 3 session on a Gentlelase.
So im hopeful for my arms.

Good luck.

Thanks for pointing this out. That description of his skin is really not enough for us to classify it. “Fairly light” can be type IV or darker in LHR terms, especially if the skin can go to brown easily, i.e. it has a lot of pigment.

zeller, please read the FAQs below and find the skin chart section. We need to know what type of skin you have based on the chart before we can recommend a specific laser.

hi,
Thanks for your response and nice to have genuine help. My skin type would be type III.
You said not to go to far up the arm as this will induce growth, how so and does this apply to everybody.
I really need to do this, and it has me so nervous, from every aspect.Summer is here again and i hope it’s raining every day,so i can cover up! I’ve stopped going out after work with friends. Totally crazy or what??

With type III skin, you need an alexandrite laser like GentleLASE.

Induced growth has less to do with the area, but more to do with the type of hair you’re treating. ONLY treat coarse dense hair with laser. Induced growth can result from treating areas with sparse and/or finer hair like that seen on upper arms in some men.

hey! i had my 2nd session of IPL this week and although im not seeing miracles happening, I am seeing a results, and I am not totally ashamed wearing my summer tshirts!! Not so much this week with the weather, but still! anyway, to get to the point, im getting IPL in covent garden and i totally recommend to anyone whos fair skinned and dark haired like i am. mainly because, its cheap and if it doesnt work, its no big loss, but so far so good. definatly a good investment :stuck_out_tongue: so check it out, i heard sk:n is good but im going to a place called depicool, and the girl there is nice too, so, good luck, hope this helps. keep smiling

IPL is not the best method for hair removal. If you’re going to spend money, spend it on the best.

Katie, you can’t tell what “results” you’re seeing yet after 1 treatment. You didn’t even mention whether you’re seeing full shedding as you’re supposed to with good treatments.

The problem with LHR is that there is a huge delay between treatments and when you can actually say you see results. Most people see that it keeps growing or that there are patches and immediately think that the treatment didn’t work.
In reality it means ALMOST nothing.

I call it: “people see what they want to see”. Even though i can understand where it’s coming from, they don’t want to pay money, but still should listen more to the technician.

However, what you CAN see is if the work is done sloppily or if the treatments are completely ineffective. For example, if you’re not seeing shedding of treated hair within 3 weeks of the treatment and/or you see more than 10-15% left after shedding, the work is not as good as it can be. And if you’re not seeing any shedding, the treatments are pointless and underpowered.
