After doing lots of research online and finding this informative forum, I am ready to progress from shaving and waxing to getting LHR! the only problem is, I am not sure which practitioner to go to. I’ve gone on 3 consultations and just need to decide which is best for me. The first place has the Sciton Profile YAG and offers a pretty good package deal for getting the underarms and bikini done. The only problem was that though this place is a pretty popular clinic for LHR in my city, I was a bit scared off by the fact that the laser technician was maybe 25 years old and it was mentioned that the receptionist was in the process of being trained to do LHR as well (my fear- I don’t want be someone’s learning curve, yikes!). The next consult I went on was at a dermatologist clinic who apparently was one of the first to do LHR. Their technician seemed very knowledgable and experienced. They also have a YAG thouch its the Sciton Clearscan. Only issue is, they quoted me considerably more for LHR on my bikini ($350 vs. $200 from the former place). When I mentioned the difference in prices with this technician she said it was because I would be under the supervision of the dermatologist hence the increase in price. One benefit of this I think is that the dermatologist would treat me for any side-affects that may occur from the laser treatments (ie. hyperpigmentation). FYI, I have darker skin and black hair which is why I definitely need to use a YAG. Bottom line, should I pay more for the more experienced technician at the dermatology clinic, or would it be sufficient at the place with the younger technician, but cheaper price?
(by the way, my 3rd consult was at another place that didn’t have a YAG, they used the Palomar Starlux, which I didn’t consider due to my dark skin)…
