HELP: Low Nd:Yag settings, uncooperative operator!

Hi there,

I am getting my lower legs, knees and buttocks done with the Cutera Coolglide ND:Yag machine. I have skin type V.

During the treatment I felt absolutely nothing and I kept telling the operator to turn up the machine but she kept saying it was fine and that I would shed. She was done with my lower legs in under 10 mins as she just glided the hand piece on my legs through the cooling gel rather fast. Its been 4 weeks now and as I knew it I have minimal shedding.

I am not new to laser hair removal. I have been treated in the past on my thighs with the Cynosure Elite machine with settings at: 35 Jcm, 40 Ms, 12mm spot size. I had fabulous results. I remember those treatments being quite painful but with no adverse effects, just great results and complete shedding after each treatment. Also the hand piece was moved after each shot over my skin not glided over fast like this new operator was doing.

I am wondering how to address this with the operator. They already have my money for 6 treatments so I don’t want to piss her off. But I was very frustrated during the treatment knowing that what she was doing was wrong!!! Please help.

Ask for a refund.

Does anyone know the proper settings to be used on skin type V with the Cutera Coolglide ND:Yag machine?

No .Really. Ask for refund. If the settings used are too low for your skin type then you are more likely to see laser hair stimulation. If the operator is unwilling to help you to correct the settings, or too inexperienced to be able to, then you can actually be making the situation worse not better. Too low of a setting is the #1 reason people see laser hair stimulation.

I am not able to get a refund. I bought it through a deal site. I have had really great experiences with deal sites and laser hair removal before so I opted to go for it again. As I has said previously I had great results with the Cynosure elite machine and that was also bought on a deal site.

So I am stuck.

I am sure if I go back to the clinic and let her know what I need her to do she may comply but I need to be firm which is why I was asking for guidance from you knowledgeable folks.

Honestly you are better losing that money than letting them treat you with improper settings. At the very least, provide them with a written complaint and dont make an appointment until it’s resolved.

NEVER PAY MONEY UP-FRONT TO ANY PRACTITIONER! (That means: electrologist or laser-ologist)

Giving up your money takes away all your bargaining strength … but not your legal rights. Suing is not so much fun, but a few brave folks WILL do it because it’s the right thing to do when you have been CHEATED!

Think about this a second: Those that require “up-front payment” of the ENTIRE treatment process (I’m not talking about a “reasonable deposit”) are doing this, why? Because they are interested in YOU? Does this illegal practice benefit YOU in any way whatsoever?

Demanding MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS up-front ONLY benefits those that have one mission: their own monetary gain and their own stupid self-importance. These “types” are despicable, and I hate them! I mean I REALLY hate them!

When I did a lot of teaching, I always had ONE simple directive: “PUT YOUR PATIENTS FIRST!” When you do that, and think ONLY of the needs of your patients, everything falls into place for both you and your patients.

Treat your clients like they are your own children! Watch out for them and do everything you can to meet their needs and PROTECT THEM! Don’t screw them out of thousands of dollars as you smile “all the way to the bank” like some “Cheshire cat!”

YOUR CLIENTS COME FIRST!

Alright themis, I know you’re not getting what michael and I are saying to you. You’ve said as much in another thred, that you arent getting any “helpful” responses. While it’s not the settings you are looking for, what we are telling you IS helpful.

I know walk away, whether or not you get your money back, isnt what you WANT to hear. But it is helpful advise whether it’s what you expected such advice to be or not.

Please read the following blog by an electrologist here in Canada. I really like her blog it has some quite useful other information so I’d advise having a look around after:

Just a follow-up to this post. Changed operators at my laser place and have had the most fabulous results one year out.

If you are in my situation, just be very firm with your demands. There is no need to lose a ton of money when a conversation can change the whole situation. Stick to your guns, do your research and get the results you paid for
