Help guys, I need some advice :/

I’m on my third laser treatment for full legs. I’m in between skin types three and four, but I guess I could lean towards four. I had my treatment yesterday and had appropriate reactions to the laser. My skin was red, “welty”, and bumpy due to swollen hair follicles. My legs stayed that way for a day (the redness went away in like 30 min) and now look fine. I have been treated with the Candela Gentlelase 755nm alex laser (all three times) I have been shedding at around 2.5 to 3 weeks. I would think that this was fine, but then I looked at the machine. It’s been at 9j. I have no idea what the spot size is, but I know that 9j is really low. The treatments hurt like hell at some points and are ok at others. What do you guys think I should do? Go somewhere else?
Am I wasting my time and money? I just need some reassurance here… and an honest opinion. Thanks

9J is too low. You’re pretty much wasting your time and money. You need a YAG laser in your case – either GentleMax, GentleYAG, or Apogee Elite-like lasers are the way to go for you.

Thanks for the response. I figured it was too low. Kind of starting to lose hope here. Oh well, gotta keep looking around I guess.

What settings would you say are decent when using a yag? So I can compare when I find a new place…

To put it into perspective, when I started laser it was at 25 joules. I moved up from there to between 35-40. Now these numbers wouldnt necessarily be compatible with you, since it is likely to be a very different machine and skin type.

Yag lasers are not as effective as Alexandrites on pale skin/dark hair.

I looked up the candela gentlelase treatment guidelines and downloaded the pdf that I retrieved from a past thread. It says in the guidlines that in skin type four you should use 8 to 16j on an 18mm spot size. Idk what to think.

Anyone have any AZ recommendations. I’m having a hard time finding a reputable place. The place I’m going to has rave reviews and nearly nothing negative said about it. The price is great also, so this is making it difficult for me.
