Help finding a good Electrolygist

I am trying to find an electrologist who can perform hair removal on my beard. So far I have been to two with different results. I was wondering how I can tell if the electrologist is using the correct technique.

The first electrologist I went to would end up leaving bruises on my face after each session that took like a week to go away. It was like she was breaking blood vessels underneath my skin. Was she using probes that were too large? The hair would also hurt when she removed it after zapping it. Doesn’t this mean she wasn’t killing the hair? This electrologist used Thermolysis but also had me hold a grounding probe so I’m not completely sure what equipment she was using.

I went to another electrologist who also used Thermolysis. She didn’t leave bruises but my face would be rather swollen after the session. I also had red bumps/welts that I didn’t get with previous electrologist. She said the swelling/ red bumps was fine but I have heard from other people that you should stop the treatment when you see swelling. Is this correct?

I mainly want to be sure I don’t damage my skin and leave pitting as I have sensitive skin. If possible I would like someone who is fast and efficient at killing the hair as well. Any tips on how to spot the correct electrolysis technique (for the face)?

I am posting my concern too. But Initially I have had good experience with my electrologist. ( She uses the traditional method, but never bothered to ask the exact name, it’s not thermolysis though)

In the recent month, my tolerance level gone down and the probing is leaving me in tears. Also I feel lot of current though it’s put on lowest intensity and the removal feels painful and the hair doesn’t slide easily almost feels like plucking or lot of tug. In the recent times it’s become unbearable , full of bruises and even developed fever and constantly felt the current vibrations and heavy inflammation.

Attaching some pictures, is this normal? In fact I started taking care of all tips like hydration, moisturizer n avoiding coffee, sun etc…

Should I try a different electrologist? I stopped the sessions for now. But I am what changed now. I occasionally used to see bruises n bumps but my skin is showing extreme reactions and I am able to bear it. I am disappointed but very much scared too.

Hello
You are from which country?
Check whether the electrologist is skilled and qualified.
Unskilled, who is claiming to be an electrologists could give mal-treatment. If blood comes while treatment, means that the insertions are not proper.

Hi,

If you’re in UK check British institute and association of electrolysis to find qualified person :grinning:

You should because you are not suppose to feel any plucking when it is pulled out or else it’s being done improperly

Hi ktharu,

Thanks so much for the reply. I am living in Houston,Texas, USA. There’s some certificate hanging on the wall and no bad review on Google.

Moreover I have had some sessions with her which went smoothly, but I definitely wi stop going as I can still feel terrible pain from the bruises.

I will check if there’s anything similar in the US

Pillis there are far better electrolysis schools and electrologists in the US than I would look for in India . Houston has many. I cant think of a single good reason to look elsewhere.
