I know I haven’t been much of a contributor myself but I’ve definitely been an ambitious reader on this forum for as long as I have been having electrolysis
So here’s a bit of “my hairy story” : I started seeing an electrologist in October last year to tackle hair mainly in my face and around my nipples. Skin reaction with her were horrible in the beginning and only improved marginally as time went on.Nevertheless I stayed on a weekly schedule with her all the way through till February when I found my current electrologist, who is a real blessing to me. Apart from being much nicer and cheaper, my skin also looks a lot better after treatments. She uses blend only on me and has a fairly good Apilus device which I think is pretty good. BUT unfortunately, she lives farther away from me and she just does straight blend, which works fine on the scattered facial hair and the nipples. I can’t see her very often, plus, blend is simply too slow to satisfyingly cover a larger area such as my abdomen. Growth there is not coarse, but blondish-darkish , fine and in part “longer than average”. So I looked up another lady who has worked on my abdomen four times by now. I understand that scabbing is normal and more likely on the body, but the area that was worked on three weeks ago is still noticable. Scabs have fallen off by now, but you can still see light red marks from the insertions and some slight undulations (if that word fits in here - I am obviously not a native speaker here Does that sound anything like a normal or acceptable healing process?? She is very thorough, so I thought about whether she might permanently damage my skin by doing too many insertions too close to each other? Or am I doing anything wrong?? Like I leave on aloe vera gel over night after treatments and after that don’t do a whole lot (I never have to in my face except putting on sunscreen of course).
Anybody had work done in this area? I’m confused and my stomach looks totally funny with different stages of scabbing…
Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia) is great for speedy healing overnight for post electrolysis treatments. Put some on every night at bed time and you will heal much faster.
hi lilia…i agree with James… Tea Tree Oil works wonders. You should get the 100% Tea Tree Oil from your local health store. Also, not only do I use the tea tree oil with some cotton, I also bought Tea Tree Oil soap. I use it in the shower now rather than regular soap to go over areas that I have treated. Also, time is a great healer too. I have had my arms done and I still have light light faded away marks from like 3 months ago. Not to scare you but sometimes these marks may stay a while but over the course of a few more weeks (sometimes months) they will start to fade away. People do use skin lightening/discoloration creams after treatment if the marks are deep and persistent.
Lilia,
I have to agree with Rani. It has been my experience that it does take up to a three months for the abdominal area to heal up. If you are working at the belt line, even more so. I think the rubbing affects the healing process. However, it does go away.
Good luck,
Al
hey everyone, it’s me, Lilia, I just signed in once more, because for some reason I couldn’t log in with my previous account
anyway, my skin situation is still really bad - the entire area on my stomach is still red from all those insertion marks (given that it was thermolysis that caused this, I suppose you could consider them actual burns, even though each of them is of course small) even after 3 months by now. also, they are like little dents everywhere, basically, scar tissue…so does anyone know what to do? I guess tea tree oil and the like help primarily right after treatments, let’s say within the first two weeks or so when usually most visible/significant signs are expected to be somewhat healed…I did buy some vitamin E oil with jojoba last week and do apply that, but to really get rid of the scars wouldn’t “real” treatments like microdermabrasion or chemical peels be necessary?? I’m just so desperate right now…anyone any idea what to do?
you should be using tea tree oil now. it’s not just for after treatments. it helps the skin heal. there is someone on the forum who posted recently about doing a home peel that helped.
