Happy new year plus an update!

Hello to everyone here. Its been a while since i posted, due to some personal issues. Even so, i was going to my appointments regularly, every two weeks for an hour.As a reminder, i am doing my upper lip, and occasional black hair on my chin. We usually leave 5 minutes on the end for my chin, even if that. Well, ive been going since july 07. Am i happy with the results? No. i cant say that i am. So far i still havent had a single full clearance. Theres whole bunch of hairs on my upper lip, and even though i know about hairs growing in cycles, i dont think this is the result i should be having after almost 7 months. I havent bleached at all since july, but after looking at myself today, i am getting really strong urge to do so. Last appointment i had was three weeks ago, and only reason i felt happy till today is because i was going every other week, and i kept it fairly lightly hairy, so it didnt bothered me much. I led myself believe that my treatment is going good. After seeing it today, i am not sure at all. My electrologist told me that it`s not true that it takes between 9-12 months for upper lip, but rather 18 or more. i was stunned. I spent at least two thousand by now, on my lip alone. Even for galvanic method this seems kinda akward to me. I can do this only for so long, and i am affraid that i will need to stop with nothing acomplished but spent money. I wanted to ask all of you what do you think, and what were your result like after 7 months?
Also i wanted to ask Lagirl to post that link she once gave to me with all the electrologists from Phoenix posted. For some reason hairtell is refusing me access to that link, and i really need to find someone who offers thermolysis.
So much for now.
I want to wish you all very happy new year, and to congratulate James on becoming top poster this month!

I disagree respectfully with your electrologist. It takes 9-12 months for an upper lip case and most “with it” electrologists know this. It can take longer if a woman presents with an upper lip that she has waxed and tweezed for years and the hair structure is super thick, but it should not be anywhere close to $2,000 or anywhere over 18 months. Understand that after the first 12 months, it’s nit picking a hair here or a hair there every 3-4 weeks for no more than 10 minutes on the table.

You should have had a first clearance by month one or two or way before that! THIS IS WHY WE URGE ELECTROLOGISTS TO BRING THEMSELVES INTO THE 21ST CENTURY! Continuing education, modern computerized epilator, surgical magnification, halogen or LED light source should be the standard norm for the sake of the consumer. This is another worse case situation that is totally off the map for what you should be getting in return for your time and money. Thermolysis, specifically, microflash thermolysis, would have prevented all this nonsense. Blend would have been helpful, as well, only after that first clearance.

We have talked to you about this at length before, sanny and you were advised to consult with other electrologists besides your first one and Kimberly Williams. Of course you are not sartisfied! This is being pursued in all the wrong ways possible. This should not be so difficult for consumers like yourself.

Do a search for lagirl’s post about other electrologists in Phoenix who:

#1 DO THERMOLYSIS WITH AN UP-TO-DATE EPILATOR
#2 DO BLEND AS WELL
#3 WEAR SURGICAL MAGNIFICATION
#4 USES A GOOD LIGHT SOURCE
#5 DEMONSTRATES SKILL (GET A SHORT TREATMENT TO DETERMINE THIS)

People need to demand a better product. That’s how the market works. Put this back on your practitioner and ask her why she isn’t using a faster modality. All modalities work, so why not use a faster process? Get training if necessary to aquaint yourself with better approaches. Tell your electrologist you are going to look further because you are dissatissfied with the amount of time spent on the table and the $2,000 you have spent with no first full clearance AFTER SEVEN MONTHS!!! I’m sure you like her. I assume she is very kind to you, but you need relief before this bankrupts you. Every one understands money and budgets and I’m sure she will, too.

You may google ‘electrologists in Phoenix Arizona’ rather than rely on lagirl again.

It’s all here. We explain what is possible and encourage you to find it in your locale. For electrologists that already are set up, it would be so gratifying for them and their clients if they would educate themselves on how to do electrolysis better, with modern tools, for the sake of their clients and the reputation of their business and profession. Electrolysis has to go beyond a beauty school sidekick show and into the realm of a serious practice of art mixed with science to relieve people of their unwanted hair.

If you can not find a skilled electrologist in Phoenix then it would be better to revert back to temporary measures.

Oh! and Happy New Year to you Sanny!

I asked my electrologist why arent they upgrading their mashines and how come they dont offer anything faster. She didnt have anything to say. I think that is just another matter of '' if you dont like it, go somewhere else ‘’.
In one hour i maybe have 30 hairs treated, and of course i am disappointed. Main two reasons of me not consulting with anyone else is the locations of other offices, and comfort level with my current electrologist.
My husband just told me that he will take me anywhere if its going to give me better results. I am thinking that maybe its better to have 2 hours of thermolysis once a month, than do this any longer.
I just wanted to mention that lagirl gave me more detailed info on electrologists in my area back then. There is one specific office i am interested in, because they offer many methods, and they are not that far from me, but i cant find their info anywhere, not on Google not on yahoo. For some reason board is denying me access to one of my previous posts containing that link from lagirl. I would really appreciate it. It was a specific post here on hairtell, listing all electrolygists in Arizona, and peoples experience with them, along with services offered as well. I would really love to go thru it again, but i can not find it.

Oh, okay, sanny. Let me help you out here. I’l be right back.

Here it is:

Thats the place i looked at. But the one place i was looking for that lagirl gave me wasnt listed there, so ill post it here. Its:

New Creation
1536 East maryland
602-279-2021

I havent called them yet though, and i am not going to. This time, instead of making same mistake with "Kimberly", and making appointment over the phone, ill drive over there and check it out before i do anything.

Thanks Dee. I`ll post back once i see how they are:)

Hi Sanny,

I am really sorry to hear about this… Here is my take on electrolysis. I am a long time plucker & have been going for the last 1 year & 3 months.

I saw moderate/slow improvement for the 1st 12 months & then some significant improvement since the past 3 months. howeever I am not close to being done

In one of your posts you said “In one hour i maybe have 30 hairs treated”, I think that number is ridiculous. You sould be able to get around 500 hairs in one hour using Thermolysis. You will not see any progress if you continue at this rate

I started off with Thermolysis, once we had the hair in control, we alternated between Thermolysis for the fine hair & blend for the thick hair as I undersnad blend does more damage to the hair follicles

I think 9-12 months might be for people with less hair or people who have never plucked but for someone like me I am estimating 18 months-2 years total before I get done…

You need to be committed (which you are as you have had regular treatments), should have the money & most importantly a good electrolygist whom you can trust. Do take pictures periodically, memory is short lived & a year from know you may not remember what your face (with the hair) looked like. Also, dont expect to see significant results in the 1st year (if you do see results, that will be a bonus)… I think you must find a good electrolygist who is fast & does Thermolysis

Hope this helps!

One more thing, this is my experience. Everybody’s body is diffrent & reacts to electrolysis diffrently. Also, everbody’s success parameter is diffrent

For me, making progress (even though its slow) is important. I sometimes get dejected & ask my electrolygist when I will be done & I get the same reply that everybody reacts diffrently. But i do trust her & I have seen progress myself. Also, for me ‘done’ does not mean having no hair on my chin & upper lip. I will feel I am done when the hair thins out which I will be able to bleach

The main issue here is pretty obvious. You should be leaving each time with no hair on the area you want cleared. And if it can’t be done in one treatment, then you need to come in a lot more often than once every 2 weeks to get to that precious clearance. It’s only from that point that the real work begins. Otherwise, too much time is wasted on treating hair that’s already in the wrong phase by the time you come in again.

Who do you see now? Is it Marina Denicola? Whoever it is, sounds too slow for your needs. I would prefer someone who’s experienced and using thermolysis, especially with a newer machine like Apilus.
