Hairy guy needs help

So I am new to this forum. I know that this has probably been posted a hundred times before, so I apologize to all you forum veterans. I am in my early 30’s, male, fair skin, dark body hair, like long walks on the beach, staring at the moonlight…oh wait I got carried away!
I am an extremely hair guy, chest and back are most concerning. I went for a consolation at a medical spa. Two major problems I had with it were

  1. Expensive- over $1600.00 for Chest and Back alone
  2. They could not tell me after six treatments how much hair would be permanently removed.
I am a medical professional, and so I started to look at purchasing my own laser. Do you think this is a good plan? What should I look for if I buy my own? I have done a little research and found a less expensive product called Silk’n. The reports sound promising. What are peoples long term experience with the Silk’n product?
    Thanks for your help

The going rate where I live for 6 chest treatments is about $1600 as well. A pro laser machine can run tens of thousands of dollars. You could get a professional electrolysis machine for a few hundred, but it probably isn’t practical to try to do it yourself.

It might be a good idea to also have a consultation an electrologist (or several if you have them in your area) and see how much it would cost versus laser.

What is the difference between electrolysis machine and laser?

Electrolysis is inserting a thin probe into each hair follicle and then the probe causes a chemical reaction that damages/kills hte hair follicle.

Laser hair reduction is using a laser to attack the melanin each in each follicle to kill/damage hair. both have advantages and disadvantages. you can find oiut tons more at hairfact.com

I don’t know the City you live in but be very careful. I made several mistakes in my search for proper LHR. This forum and especially, Chris, from R &J,educated me. I would like to forward the knowledge I received on to you and spare you some of the grief I endured. First and foremost, find a reputable company (who will stand by their service) with well trained technicians. Secondly, inquire about the type of laser they will be using on you. Make sure it is a laser and not an IPL. There are too many 'technicians" out there who do not have a clue. If you are in the NYC metro area I would strongly advise you to give Chris a call. He is a top contributor to this forum and an expert in this field.

Good luck and keep us posted on your trek through LHR.
