Do you have a closet full of these things looking for a new place to live ??
If your home or office has had it’s limit of Hair Route Mags I’d love them!!
Super old or current will do.
I would keep an eye out for the “retiring electrologist selling all” ads on the AEA, Hair Route and other sites. Most have every one they ever got that was not swiped by a client, or associate electrologist. They never think that anyone would want them enough to relieve them of that box, and save it from going into the attic so the kids can throw them out years from now when one dies.
I wish you good luck. You can’t have my set until I die (which might not be too long if my stalker has her way <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />)
Well HELLO NANCI!!!
Keep me posted as to your findings! Should you get doubles of anything, maybe we can make some trades or negotiate!
My periodical collection consists of KREE ELECTROLOGISTS from the 1940’s - 1950’s; GORDON BLACKWELL’s DIGEST from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. Neither of these has been in publication for years.
How did I get them?
I placed ads in trade newsletters asking for all types of industry publications. Over the years, I have purchased from about 10 electrologists nationwide. All but 1 wanted financial compensation.
As far as you are concerned, since HAIR ROUTE still exists, you are in a pretty good predicament as you can actually purchase the magazines directly from the source. Since you want 1 copy of as many as they can provide, do not pay the asking price. Tell them that you want a good break. They need the money and you want the publications!
Keep me posted!
Yes, she can get a bulk purchase price on what ever they have available, however, they are completely sold out of many issues, and thus can’t build a full catalogue in this fashion.
Thank You!!!
If I get extras your on the top of my list!!
I wonder what happened with International Hair Route magazine? Do they still have new issues?
Also, it seems that [hairroute dot com] was hijacked. If I type [hairroute dot com] it immediately transfers me to [hairwiki dot ca]
But if I type [hairroute dot com/subscriber/index.html], for example, I am at [hairroute dot com]
I wondered when the links would disappear. For many years after they stopped publishing you could go read the site… It was a great loss to our profession when they stopped publishing.
Yes! Major loss to the industry. Hair Route was a great resource. Now, none of us really has a sense of “what’s going on” in the entire profession. Nicely, we are about 6 - 10 months away from a resource like this again: Just “bigger and better” and you will all be involved. (Not my project, by the way … just involved.)
The success is guaranteed. I must admit I’ve waited a long time to attend the Renaissance of the industry. I’ll be glad to witness this event. Those who predicted a death foretold seem to be wrong. Of course they did not have that consumer demand was always there.
Is it a secret?
FYI, I updated my page on International Hair Route today. I may have some print editions around here somewhere!
I met the owner in Las Vegas many years ago when I gave a keynote at the AEA convention. I think he saw this site as a competitor and was a little standoffish, but my focus has always been consumers.

Hair Route was greatly missed when it just stopped publication. Nobody knows exactly why they stopped (at least I don’t). And, except for Dectro, nearly everything in electrology is a cottage industry.
Problem with “family run” cottage enterprises is that when the principal decides to quit, the entire company goes under and is gone forever. The list of “tummy ups” is long and getting longer. Hair Route, Fischer, Hinkel, Sudonna, Gentronics (multiple needle), Kree (at one time the biggest) … etc. It’s a very long list indeed. (Companies all based on one individual.)
Although I don’t agree with the Court that “corporations are people,” corporations have the advantage of living into the future and providing continuity of their goods and services.
There are other corporations though, a few off the top of my head:
Silouete Tone, Ballet, Zeiss (for optics) .
I’m pretty sure TES is a corporation but one must always remember there are people and families behind those corporations, so when they retire or decease, sodoes the corporation in many cases.
Doesn’t the AEA already produce educational magazines similar to Hair Route but for CPE members only?
AEA produces the Journal of Electrology. It was a physical book sent twice a year at one point for members. Not sure if they still do.
Andrea, that new picture of you looks fantastic!
