I have been reading lots of posts on here and you all seem fantastically supportive so I wondered whether you would help me.
I went on the 5th March for my first electrolysis session on my chin.
It all started back when I was in 6th Form:
Im 21 but when I was 18 my friend had a hormonal imbalance which meant she had facial hair. Because of this I became paraniod and just started plucking the fine whispy hair on my chin that I saw. Looking back now I know the hair was normal but I had a fixation with it. Back then I didn’t realise the hair would get out of control but I now have a little patch either side of my chin of coarser hair. I find it embarrassing and I decided to do something about it.
after that long plucking how long do you think It will take to sort out my hair? I need help to keep me going and reassurance that it will be worth it and it will work in the end.
my electrolysisist doesnt get all the hairs in each session because they are close toegther but Im going for my third session tomorrow. I have stopped being a victim to the tweezers and just trim between sessions beacasue i know that is the biggest problem with electrolysis not working!!
I probably have 15 hairs on one side and 25 on the other. When do you think I will see some results and is going once every Thursday enough to get effective results?
It’s tough because I am rather self conscious but I really am determined to keep going so a little advise would be greatly appreciated
I’m a bit confused. You have less than 50 hairs and the electrologist is not clearing them all each week because they are too close together?
Well…perhaps I don’t fully understand what you are stating. If you were tweezing frequently and if you were having weekly clearings of all the hair, in a few months you will see less and less hair and your treatments will become further and further apart.
Sorry for not being clear. I’m just coming to terms with understanding myself let alone trying (very badly) to explain to someone else
I think I only have a few hairs very close together in two little patches on my chin because as I tweezed I was aiming for the dark hairs. I guess occasionally I got a little fluffy nothing of a hair that was very close by. so that one started getting plucked too?
I’ve only just started to understand how the hair works. I always thought I was plucking the same hair but now I know I wasn’t.
My skin is quite delicate and i developed a keloid scar once from an ear piercing that got infected, so I have a few concerns there too. I constantly get cuts on my hands or open wounds as I deal with animals, and have plucked hairs and always heal properly. It was just the one occasion, but of course as I have had one once it’s niggling at the back of my mind…
Has anyone known of keloid scarring happening because of electrolysis or is it just a warning they are obliged to give because it is attacking the hair follicle in the skin with heat??
