Had my first laser experience

Hi there…had my first laser treatment at my doctor’s office…Sciton Profile (Nd:Yag 1064) . I think she had it set at 3.5 It has a cooling feature. I’m having full bikini done (everything but a little in the front). I’m a Type 1 skin type with dark blonde/light brown hair.

She gave me a pulse and I didn’t feel anything so she adjusted. Gave me another and I hardly felt it. She upped it again and i felt it…some areas hurt more than others. It didn’t feel like a rubber band to me…more like several tiny little burning pin pricks. Not too bad and less than what I thought it would be. Took 'bout 10 minutes to get everywhere including the “rear” area. Yay!

I go back in 6 weeks. I asked her if 8 weeks was better but she said 4 weeks is recommended. I said…wouldn’t it be better to give the hair longer to grow back but she said it was better to go at 4 weeks when the hair is newly growing in rather than the later stage of growth.

Okay. She gave me a little mild cortisone cream to spread on the areas.

Can I ask you a question? I’m set up to go for my first legs session ($399). I then saw ‘Bikini’ was only $75 dollars more, so I’m adding that in too. I asked the clinic what does legs cover and the response was “everything up to the buttock”. So then I asked what does ‘Bikini’ cover, and the response was “everything that shows outside the suit. Wear something like a speedo.” I’m mean, don’t get me wrong, they are superpolite people and the receptionist is one for many doctors, she doesn’t have everything memorized. But, a speedo covers a lot of the buttock region, bikini and the in between the cheeks region, which I want done. So I guess I’ll have to discuss this with them for specifics. You say bikini was everything but a little in front, did they get between your legs and areas further to the rear? I feel like printing out your post and showing them what other clinics call ‘bikini’. Others have anything to say what was considered what?

They had two options: Bikini and Bikini Full. They explained Bikini as just the sides and Bikini Full as ALL the hair gone (including front, sides, labia and between the cheeks). Regular bikini would just be the sides inside the leg. I had a modified Full…they took everything off, including between the cheeks but I did want to leave a strip of hair in the front. She was very nice and only charged me for a regular bikini. This was done in my derma’s office. I asked the laser person before we got started and told her exactly what I wanted done. Personally, I’d want a little bit more off than just what was covered by a speedo. Swimsuits shift.

Here’s a big tip: if you’re getting the between the cheeks area done…hold off on wearing a thong for a day or two. That was the only irritation I ended up having post treatment. The irritation could also be due to the fact that I had to shave that area before treatment and I normally don’t shave that area.
