Hello, I’ve gotten years of electrolysis. Depending on the practitioner, I have minimal reactions (those are the ones I stay with). About a year ago I started doing upper lip with someone who gave me minimal reactions but good results - I’d get a few white heads and maybe a few small red spots and a few days later my skin was fine. Cut to a few months ago, and now I am getting dozens of whiteheads and angry red inflammation that lasts about 9 days. We have tried to figure out what is going on and nothing has changed on either end. I am VERY careful and ice 4 times after, and wipe the ice off with alcohol. I use a new pillow case and towel. I don’t go out after the treatment, I stay in and take care of my skin. I use witch hazel without alcohol every few hours and a nice aloe gel. I don’t shower to avoid heat, and don’t exercise.
Prior to this I’d be able to wipe a bit of salycilic acid toner on the white heads after about 36 hours and they’d be gone by the next day. Now that doesn’t help at all. I do have oily skin - but always have.
The only potential difference is I am using a bit more salycilic acid 1.5 toner on my skin regularly (was using it every 3 days and now every 2 days) But I stop two days before the treatment.
The other weird thing is I am almost done now. I only go in every 4 weeks for 20 minutes, have only very light blonde wispy hairs left and so it should be a much easier treatment!
Any thoughts? (One of the photos I released the whiteheads gently, as I found if I don’t - they become stubborn pustules that stay for at least a week and leave worse hyperpigmentation. These photos are about 18 hours after treatment. As it is, this has been leaving a lot of PIH)
