had 1st treatment!

had my first treatment today, went well, the woman was nice & seemed very experienced. I have scarring on the area being treated but she was able to go over it without a problem, all my hair has been toasted off and the area is quite sore!
When she started the treatment it hurt a little bit but was bearable, pain got worse as she got closer to my waist line but nothing i couldnt tolerate.
She i had had a very good reaction to the laser and i should expect the hair to fall out over the next few weeks and start to regrow between 4-8 weeks, lets see how it goes.

Oh and the laser she used was an appogee 5500, i said it was an appogee 500 in my last thread, must of heard the woman wrong on the phone but i looked at the laser when i went today and it said appogee 5500.

It would be great if you now keep your story in one thread so others can easily follow.

Also, can you mention your skin type and area again and find out the settings used (pulse width and joules on this machine).

Also, add your treatment details to your signature. It means that people who are thinking about getting specific areas of the body (stomach, armpits, etc.) with specific lasers (alexandrites, diodes, etc.) have a chance of finding someone who has had that specific procedure done to ask them questions  It doesn’t have to be much, but personal experience is wonderful to share with others.

No problem Ill keep it in this thread from now on, my skin type is type 2, i had to fill out a questionairre at the clinic & the woman told me my skin type was type 2, it is naturally VERY pale, and my hair is as coarse as coarse can be. The area treated was naval to pubic line, just a test patch until i decide if i want my full front done at the same place.
Ill have to wait until i go back to find out the pulse width and joules though.

Ill put it in my sig asap when i figure out how to, im no good with computers, thanks for ur replies!

That’s fine!

Up the top of the page, there’s a tab which says “my stuff”. Click on that, then click onto “edit profile”, down the bottom of that page is the signature field, which you can fill in.

Your stomach area is kinda the same as mine, but my hair is probably slightly more thin than yours :stuck_out_tongue: skin types are the same though. I found mine pretty much went red around the follicles for the first few days, then turned into pepper spots rather than shedding. So I kinda attack the area, either popping the hairs out like you’d pop pimples or use a clean pair of tweezers to help them out. It’s kind of addictive

Oh and if you think it hurts at the waistline… You should feel it further down, lol

You can also call them and ask for settings, so you’re prepared next time you go in.

Signature sorted!
Yeah emilily thats the way it looks mine is gonna go, just red around the folicles at the min, hairs are already tiny pepper spots though and made no attempt of growing back, if anything theyv got shorter? maybe just the burnt ends rubbing off when im sleeping or something, i dont know.
It doesnt look like im gonna be doing any shedding, i think im gonna have to encourage them out some how, the hairs are so thick they are like blackheads!
How long should i wait before i encourage them out ?
I am dreading getting treatments further down! lol i want a reduction on my legs, arms and bum though.

La girl ill phone the clinic when i get a chance and see if i can speak to the woman who done my treatment.

I usually have a couple of weeks exfoliating in the shower while everything starts shedding, and then start attacking the pepper spots after two or three weeks has passed and it looks like they’re not moving on their own. Exfoliating gloves, if you don’t have them, are pretty cheap. I just put some soap onto them and go for it. I think the gloves are better than using an exfoliating scrub.

But yeah see how it goes, sometimes I find clothing rubbing actually gets rid of them a bit which is good

Ask for joules and pulse width.

I’m sure they write down settings in your file.

Its a little over 2 weeks since my first treatment, and a high percentage of my hair has shed very well, i would say in the 90-95% range, still the odd stray hairs which havnt shed and seem to still be stuck where they are, dont think theyre going anywhere, even so i am very happy with what has shed.
Is this normal or should all ov my hair fall out?

If the hair is stuck and NOT still growing, then it’s just pepperspots which is fine. They will burn off at your next treatment if they don’t wear away on their own first.

yeah the hair is stuck but not still growing, some of the hairs are longer than others but they have been since i had my treatment, they didnt get burned all the way down to the skin. Thanks for ur reply, hope to see more shedding over the next week or so

Everything sounds good. 95% is good and pepperspots are also dead hairs. A touchup is only needed if more than 10-15% was missed and is growing as usual.

been near enough 6 weeks since i had my first test treatment, got a few hairs growing in here and there but not close to even 10% the amount of hair in the surrounding areas, it may aswell be completely bald if you compare it to the surrounding areas, i still have pepperspots which are refusing to budge though, none the less i am very very pleased with how it has went so far, really impressed! cant wait to go and get my full front & back done! maybe my arms, upper legs & bottom aswell hehe

Had my 2nd treatment today! I got my full front done & it seemed to go well, pretty painful though, not so much during the treatment but post treatment.

Last time I had a treatment someone asked me to get the settings she used so I asked her to write them down this time, she said she used a higher setting this time than she did last time.

This is what she wrote . . . .

20j/cm2
755nm
15ms
1.5hz
15mmhp(im sure she said this was the spot size)

I dont really know what much of it means myself, maybe it will make more sense to you.

If this is a Cynosure Apogee machine then you were treated with the alexandrite. The 20j is the energy settings, so 20 joules. 755nm is the wavelength for an alexandrite (if it was 1064 then it was the yag). 15ms is the pulse width and 15 is most likely the spot size. Not sure what the hp means but 15mm means 15 millimetres.

You’re using the Apogee 5500 it seems, the alex. Those settings are decent.

Thanks for the replies & glad to hear those are decent settings.

On skin type II, they can even go higher on the joules and lower on the pulse width. Depends on how comfortable you are asking to test higher settings on you.

Had 3rd treatment today, full back and back of neck, once again went well, she used a higher setting on my back then she did on my front, not half as painful though maybe because the hair isnt as coarse.
