guesstimate insertions

Hello All

I am currently in the process of trying to find an electrologist. While hoping that someone who is done and happy in my locale will come forward with a referral, in the absence of specific recommendations, I have consulted the BIAE directory and have had a few patch tests with various members.

One electrologist seems to stand out. She is a member of an appropriate regulating body, has computerised equipment, impeccable hygiene, years of experience, not to mention the all important lovely disposition … However, after having perused these forums, it seems the use of magnification is fundamental to proper insertions and hence effective treatment. The lady in question has a magnifier and lighting but only uses the latter.

My question is really related to whether there is a set of circumstances where it is acceptable to go without vision equipment? I have very dark hair, contrasted by light olive skin and am very good at ensuring I turn up for my appointments with a few days growth. For the most part, no resistance is felt upon removal. I trust this is a sign that the follicle has been treated effectively?

Thanks for any information and many apologies if this question has been addressed previously.

For the purpose of answering this question, I will ASSUME that she is doing excellent work even though she doesn’t have the kind of magnification that I would like. If that were the case, then the only thing the lack of magnification would mean to the treatment is that her speed would be slower without it, than it would be with it.

That brings me to the reason why we perfer the best in both lighting and magnification, because it makes the insertions easier, more accurate and therefore makes speedy work done well more likely.

But be of good cheer. Competent work can be done with a circle lamp.

Thank you very much for your learned reply. In light of your assertion that competent work is possible in such a scenario, I will most certainly have a few more treatments with her and see how things progress. Perhaps still looking for someone with superior equipment however…

Did you run a search for “London” and the “UK” here? There have been other discussions, at least on the electrologists in London.
