Hi all,
In comparison to most I’m rather a new electrologist so sorry for the obvious questions.
Treating male facial hair I have found that I get way more lye production and slide from Black hairs, but not as much at all from greys.
Its strange to me as I’m using the same settings, same machine, same probe on the same person, in the same session, but the darker or coloured hairs perform way better.
Is this normal to have more resistance and less lye in greys compared to black terminal hairs?
Many thanks I appreciate you all , Im using a fischer compublend and ballet probes.
I also find that pigmented hair treats far more easily than grey hair even when treating with thermolysis. I never really bothered to research the reason until now.
Based on what I could find, grey hair is more prone to dryness, which I assume would affect both thermolysis and electrolysis given the role of moisture in treating the follicle. It also seems that the rigidity and coarser texture of grey hair influences our perception of it as being more anchored to the follicle.
There’s probably an electrolysis textbook out there that could give a more scientific understanding if anyone feels like digging a bit further.
