Good Settings?

Hello,

I recently had some laser work done on my neck and chest. The laser was a Candela GentleMax, and I managed to snap a photo of the settings, which I have attached. Hopefully, it is visible.

Could you please give me your thoughts on the settings used?

Thanks.

Very very low settings.

Really? Low, as in too low? Should I not expect to have results from treatment at these settings?

Too low. Please post a picture.

The treatment was done recently and the area is stubble/pepper spots now. I will post a photo in a few weeks after the hair clears.

It’s troubling that the settings seem too low. I asked the technician to try higher settings first, but they refused. I am pale and my skin becomes red easily, so I am guessing they wanted to avoid the possibility of skin damage. Additionally, at those settings the treatment had me at the crest of my pain tolerance. I know we are supposed to ignore that as a guide for when the treatment is working, but I do not think I could tolerate higher settings. (I tried numbing cream to no avail).

Are there any short term tests to indicate if a treatment is working or not? For example, shedding?

Shedding doesn’t mean it will work, it’s just an indication that it will. You will probably still have shedding even with those settings but they are too low. If you found that painful then not sure what else to suggest as that picture shows 10 joules when GentleLASE is best at 16, 18 and up.
