Good Electrologist in the NYC Tri State Area

I am looking for a good and reasonably priced electrologist in the New York tri state area (NY, NJ, and CT (not PA).
I have been to 4 different electrologists work on my jawline/neck/chin already with no luck.

Electrologist #1 - Used Blend but I think she may have overtreated? I look like I was stung by 2 dozen bees for a good 3+ week after treatment. I did all the normal aftercare - tea tree oil, witch hazel, etc. And it HURT.

electrologist #2 - Blend also but I think she may have undertreated. Hardly felt anything at all…Plus, most importantly, I caught a SERIOUS infection on my chin…could have been me that infected it but I am not willing to take a chance.

electrologist #3 - Blend, was really good, best out of the 3…but she is also super expensive. I think I paid 75 for a 30 min treatment. She works out a home office in an upper, upper middle class neighboroodd. Plus she is just too far away from where I am now…

Electrologist #4 - Went today and it was the worst experience. First I could feel the needle going into my skin most of the time so I know she was doing something wrong there. Then instead of doing a zap, pull method she zapped each hair once in a entire section (ex. right jawline) then went back picked up her tweezer thing and pulled each hair out…I could tell a good number of hair were Plucked…and I know from the previous 3 elec. that my hairs need to be zapped a few times before they slide out.

I am soo disappointed in my last treatment. I feel like I just paid for a plucking session instead of an electrolysis session…

So can anyone recommend a good electrologist in the NYC area. I am willing to travel to CT or NJ for an appt.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, I believe you will find James Walker highly recommended. He runs this place www.executiveclearance.com . If I live anywhere within 6 hours of him, that’s where I would go! Just my recommendations though, good luck, J

I would like to point out that the person who was “zapping” more than one hair at a time before going back to remove them, was actually practicing a technique that delivers more hairs per hour, and therefore, assuming her treatment energy was well chosen, you would save money by having more hairs removed per hour, and thus spending less money per hair. When the stars align, and the client’s growth pattern and tolerance allow it, I treat 20 hairs before going back to remove them.

In most cases, the client causes any infection post treatment, as the only way a practitioner could do so would be to use infected tools (sterilization prior to use eliminates this) or worked with dirty hands. (Good hand washing technique, and use of gloves eliminates this) So the most likely thing is that your aftercare was not up to the healing required. It is always a good idea to up your intake of vitamin C at the very least while doing treatment.

Yes I had no problem with the last practitioner zapping more than one hair at at time. My problem is when she came across a hair that was hard to pull she ended up plucking it instead of going back and zapping it again. That is really my main concern - the plucking.

As for the infection - I know it is possible that I caused it myself with my aftercare but I’m not willing to find out. If there is just the slightest chance that it was her not me is enough to keep me away. The infection was horrible… I don’t recall her wearing gloves and her technique wasnt the greatest. She ended up breaking quite a few hairs instead of getting them from the root. I think that could be what caused the infection. A piece of hair that broke off and was still in there…

Are you saying that I’m being too picky and that I should give one of these two practitioners another chance? I’m not questioning your judgment I just want to know if I am evaluating them all wrong.

I wish I could but that is an 8hr drive for me…but if I really can’t find someone here then I would consider it…

If the hairs broke under the skin, then that really IS what caused the break out, as the body would make ups to try to push out the broken hairs.

I don’t know if I would drive 8 hours to see me, but if one were thinking of coming from where you are to where I am, a 45 minute flight with 14 day advanced purchase would be relatively inexpensive and easy. Once your full clearance was secured, you would have the option of trying to maintain clearance with your local talent, or seeing me once every 6 to 8 weeks.

I would like to recommend Arlene Batz, CPE in Queens…you will find posts from her on HairTell…

I would like to second the motion. Since you are in that area, I would not come visit me before first doing a consult with Arlene in Queens at www.breierhairremovalandskincare.com

Thanks guys! Going to check out the website now…
