gonna give electrolysis a go

Hey there, Im gonna get laser hair removal but i have to wait a year due to reasons i wouldnt like to discuss, so im gonna buy myself an electrolysis machine for the time being to get rid of a few hairs in areas that arent going to be treated by laser, just got a few questions.

What price am i looking to pay for a good electrolysis machine? a really good one thats actually worth buying, I have about £500 ($750).

How many times do you need to treat a hair before it dissapears completely? just once or do you have to have a few goes at it?

Any help would be great, thanks.

If you’re good at it, you can kill the hair the first time around. However, it takes a while to get good. Buy a book like the one by Bono. You need to practice first before you get good.

The cheapest decent home machine is OneTouch. It’s meant for home use. If you’re more adventurous than that, you can get a good used professional machine on eBay. Something like Apilus would be great.

But once again, expect a learning curve.

Also, keep in mind that hair grows in cycles. You’ll need consistent treatments over the course of a year or so on any one area.

Get a machine that can do galvanic, blend, and thermolysis if you’re serious. Start with galvanic because it’s the easiest to do correctly (less chance of injury and higher kill rate). Galvanic is slow, so once you get perfect at insertions, you can move up to blend and then thermolysis.

$750 should be plenty. I paid $500 total for mine and it’s an older pro machine, used, but works perfectly. If you find an apilus you can afford, then that’s always the most recommended brand on here. But there are a handful of really great options (check the thread about used electrolysis machines on ebay for a lot of good listings and some info).
