How am i supposed to do this?
I cant take a day or half day off work every week. And the clinics that are near me only work weekdays.
Although one place does late friday nights, it would mean losing my friday night every week. As much i this pains me, i think it might be my only option.
So how do the rest of you manage it? Im thinking of changing my job, so i can get shift work, but its a pretty drastic measureâŚ
Most of the electrologists Iâve tried here in LA work evenings and weekends. I go weekday nights after work (around 7pm or so), but I can also schedule for anytime Saturday if I need to. I prefer not to do this during the weekend though. Are you sure none of the electrologists in your area work evenings or weekends? Maybe in the UK electrologists like their weekends and evenings too much. I know in France where I lived for a while they do. Just the European mentality. In the US, I guess itâs more about how to make the most money and if there is demand for weekend and evenings hours, there will be electrologists who will offer them.
Iâm working 7 days a week and I like it a whole lot better. Several of my colleagues work 6 days a week and offer evenings and Saturdays. Maybe we are just more productive in the states for various reasons. I guarantee you, if my income was taxed in the 60-90% rate, Iâd only work 2 or 3 days a week and no weekends. I donât know what the tax rates are like in Europe, but Iâm wondering if the incentive to work more has been denied.
Ask them why they donât have better hours to accomodate people like yourself.
yes, tax rates in Europe are around 60-70%. i still remember how frustrating it was to even go to a bank since their hours were something like 10am-12pm and 2-4pm (yes, 2 hr lunch) and then when you got there at like 2:30pm, they would still not open the door saying they werenât done with their lunches yet. haha. I learned to appreciate capitalism the hard way
Well the hours arenât quite that bad in the UK. Banks and pretty much all places are 8.30 - 4.30/5pm. Including Electrolysis sadlyâŚ
Admitidly, the ones i have contacted and felt most comfortable with are people working from home, so maybe a clinic will have longer hours⌠Just there are none near me that i like the sound of - for vaious reasons.
If i could get away with fortnightly treatments, i could cope with that. But im pretty sure i will get regrowth sooner than thatâŚ
So, back to the drawing board.
You know, im seriously considering coming out to the US. Trying to line up a job for a year, and getting treated out there. Although im sure thats not going to be easy⌠Tsk
Um, i thought you should go and get treated again whenever the hair begins to show itself. So im guessing mine will become visable again in less than 2 weeks after the initial treatmentâŚ
Here is the reply i got from a very helpful lady who practices from her home. She said she can do late nights on Wednesday, which is great.
I asked her about getting treated on eyebrows and some sparse hairs on my back.
Id appreciate your views on her email. Im surprised that she isnât too confident about the back, i didnt think the area made any difference with ElectrolysisâŚ
the areas you want done are not very time consuming. facial hair has 4-6 wks hair growth cycle and body hair 6-8 wks. after a few treatments it slows down. i have seen some excellent results with eyebrows, but not so much with backs. in the worst case scenario i would expect you to need a treatment every week for 2 months and then go to fortnightly treatments for a few months (difficult to say how many). if you manage to grow the hair and book longer appointments you might be alright with a treatment once every 2 wks from the beginning.
for your back the recomended treatment plan is do 1 or 2 longer treatments to clear it all and come back every 3-4 wks to treat whats coming through.
how many hairs per minute varies a lot. first treatments are slower than the following. hairs that have passed the stage of growth are in tighter follicles so more difficult to insert. depends also on the technique used - thermolysis or blend, which depends on the type of hair and skin and may change according with the progress. In beauty school i was told 30 hairs per minute, which turned out to be a complete myth if you are not just plucking. i would guess 5- 6 seconds per hair is a very good speed for effective treatment considering current is flowing for 2-3 sec with thermolysis. blend takes longer as current flows for 4-5 sec.
hormones are what affects hair growth mostly but eyebrows are not affected by them that much (except in the cases of hair stimulating treatments for the scalp). they would affect the hair growth on your back though and this is why its more difficult area to treat.
i work late on wednesdays as well. if i wasnt sharing the house with some messy people i might have been able to do saturday evenings too but at the moment its impossible. this is why i am looking for a room to rent somewhere in stratford.
i canât believe its so difficult to find somebody closer to you. Have you tried the british association of electrologists website for registered electrologists near you? It seems a very long way to go to come to my place and it will become burden and you might give it up or not stick with it properly and then your results wonât be great.
She has a point about the distance thing, but if you have done all you can to find someone near where you live, well then, it may be worth it.
Of course, I donât agree that menâs backs are harder to treat. I never hesitate to treat menâs backs, but I was afraid at first. It seems like a lot of hair, but if you have microflash thermolysis capabilities, you can zoom along treating 30 hairs per minute with no problem. Other modalities take longer. My men say it feels like a little pinch and all is very tolerable. Some sneak in a couple zzzzzzâs as well. AND I SWEAR TO YOU, IT IS NOT PLUCKING. The hairs will slide out very well and you will be done sooner. Regrowth is minimal if anagen hairs are treated. If she doesnât know about this microflash possibilty, then okay. She can still affect the hair permanently, so donât be spooked away.
First clearance depends on how much hair you have??? and if you will devote time for longer sessions up front. It is not possible to make predictions if one canât see you and even then, estimates are only ballpark figures. So she is just making guesses, unless you were more descriptive with her.
I would narrow the modality down to thermolysis, since itâs a large area.
I think it is a positive sign that she e-mailed you back promtly!
she sounds very knowledgeable and honest. sheâs pretty much correct on everything she said, so I would definitely give her a chance. backs are fine to treat. she can use blend if the hair you have is very deep and/or curly, but thermolysis should be ok too. you will be able to tell by looking at the removed hair whether it was properly treated.
yes, every week or two to start to get to a clearance, but then less and less often as the growth slows down.
Well she is only an hours drive away, so its not that much of a big deal.
Im glad she seems knowledgable, shes always been quick in answerwing my questions.
Im going to book a consultation with her, but i have a final questionâŚ
As ive been plucking the âexcessâ parts of my eyebrows for a while now (not affecting the shape as such, just the stray ones)
Should i leave it a week or two from now, so that as much hair as possible can surface before the first session?
(I take it this is what she ment by letting the hair grow for the first clearance)
Obviously the downside of this will be having messy and stubbly looking eybrows for a whileâŚ
But am i right in what im suggesting?
I would stop plucking if you possibley can, M. I donât know how fast this electrologsit works , but Iâm betting once she gets a hold of you, you will see a difference at the first treatment.
Im male and i would hope i will see a difference after the first treatment! Infact, wouldnât the first treatment show what the finished look will hopefully be? If you know what i mean?
grow it out for about a week or 1.5 weeks and have her zap all the offending hairs on the first treatment. you will always look finished after the treatment.
