GentleMax Pro at the American Laser Center?

Hello All,

I am interested in getting my bikini area treated with a laser for hair removal. I am currently receiving treatments on my underarms after buying a groupon using the E-light machine, 6 treatments for $130. After researching i found that this is just an IPL + RF system and that it may not give me the most long lasting results. So, im looking for a real laser to do my bikini.

I went to American Laser Center for a consultation, even though there are lots of negative reviews online about them, and I was actually happy with the consultation. She gave me a few different packages but the one I was most interested in was the extended brazilian package which was about $1300 for 7 treatments, but that included 3 extra for free if I needed them. So, $1300 for 10 treatments. The extended brazilian package was basically ALL the hair down there, including the g string line in the back.

So, I have type IV skin I believe. I am half black and half caucasian with dark course hair.

They advertised this as 50% off the normal price which I think would be outrageous but maybe this is a good deal? Is this a normal price or could I do better? It also appears to be a newer machine, the GentleMax Pro.

Any advice at all would be much appreciated!

This is a decent price. However, I wouldn’t commit to anything until they can tell you what settings they’re planning to use and do a test patch. I’m also surprised they have a Candela machine. In the past, they had an exclusive contract with Syneron. Maybe this is a unique franchise. Where are you located?

Thanks for the response LAgirl.

I am located in Columbia, MD and so if the center I went to. The new machine is actually now listed on their website and apparently they just got them in. The representative indicated that they only recently got in the new machines in the last few months. She also said that nationally they have just lowered their prices based on their competition. She didn’t appear to be trying to heavy sell me and even discussed doing a test patch because of my skin color but we never decided whether or not I would. So, she was helpful and wasnt pressuring me at all. So it seemed like a good deal but I just see so many bad reviews on this center nationally but maybe they were from when the old machines were used?

I might take your advice and ask that the test patch be done. thanks for the suggestion and any other advice!

I would go in for a consultation, get a test patch and post the settings here. It’s very important to know for sure that they will use aggressive settings even if they’re nice at this location and not salesy.

Service really varies based on location as it’s franchised for the most part.

apparently syneron and candela have merged

Interesting. Here are some FAQs. Looks like they will continue to operate as separate companies when it comes to products and have both brands in their product line.
