gentlelase with vacuum

Hi everyone,

I have few questions about my treatments, so any of your experience or knowledge would be very helpful. I had 7 treatments with GentleLase laser system togehter with some kind of vacuum upgrade for reducing the pain. All treatments were done with the spot size of 18mm, while the influence of laser was set to 18J for the first treatment in the following treatments they used energy of 20J. Skin type (I think, not 100% sure) II with dark hair, age 29, male, laser gentlelase. According to practioner I should be “ideal” specimen for laser treatment.

My conclusion are:

  • I think i can find some reduction after 7 treatments (maybe 30% not more than 50%) on my stomach and chest area, where it was very dense.
  • On my arms I think I have even more hairs than before the treatment, the smaller hairs got coarser.
  • I had two treatments without vacuum upgrade (since it was broken at the time of treatment).
  • Should i get ride off the vacuum, is it better to go without, anyone with experience with this upgrade.
  • Should i go for smaller spot size and higher energy?

Thank you in advance!

For arms, I would use 15 mm

For arms, I would use 15 mm spot size with higher energy, as long as your skin takes it. For chest, continue with 18 mm spot and 20 Joules.

The Vacuum upgrade is no longer available, in fact the company discontinued this product because it had a lot of problems. For small areas, it helps with pain but with larger areas, I would suggest no vacuum.

How far were treatments spaced? Did you see shedding of ALL treated hair 3 weeks after each treatment? I have a feeling neither of this was the case if you only got 30-50% reduction on dense coarse hair on your stomach and chest. You should have gotten much better results at those settings on this area if the hair is very coarse and dense.

What type of hair is on your arms? Laser doesn’t work on finer hair. Most men’s upper arms don’t have coarse enough hair to be affected with laser. Lower arms get better results. And yes, you can induce growth when treating finer hair.

If you continue treatments, I would stick with 18mm/20J and ONLY treat coarse dense growth. Current photos would help.

You should also make sure that you get close to 100% shedding 3 weeks after each treatment. If this isn’t happening, something is wrong. At those settings, the only thing I can think of is a sloppy treatment where areas are being missed.

I have attached the file. Today is exactly one month after the last (7th) treatment. You can see missed spots, and the shedding is still not completed, usually it is. I have noticed, because the vacuum is slow usually they miss more spots. The reaction on the treatment is different and shedding is better without vacuum, while the skin post reaction is better with the vacuum upgrade. I have really bad feeling about the vacuum upgrade and intensity for the shoulders.

When I have been talking about arms I meant shoulders and little bit of upper part of the arms, sorry for confusion.

Thanks for all the answers.

Yeah, your upper arms and shoulders need to be treated with electrolysis, not laser.

Shedding takes 3 weeks. Whatever doesn’t shed by then was missed and needs a free touchup.

If treatments were done right, you shouldn’t need them more than once every 10-12 weeks on the chest and stomach.
