I just did my first settings with the Gentlelase. Last week we spot tested spot size 18 (biggest spot size), and tested 12, 14, and 16. All were fine. I’m F1. Going for full face hair removal (I’m a biological male just starting facial hair removal).

So today I went in for my first treatment and asked them to try 18J, but she wanted to do a 15 spot size for some reason. So we did 15 spot, with 24J, and then had to switch to 22J on my lower and upper lips. It was just too much at 24 for some reason.

Do these setting sounds like they will kill the hairs well?

They sound okay. She probably did 15 on the face just because 18 is pretty big. So for areas like your upper lip the 18 is probably bigger than that entire area. Using 18 on your cheeks and neck etc would probably be better but I know when I did my full face with GentleLASE the first time she used 15 and that was her explanation.

Max on 18mm is 20J and on 15mm 30 J, just so you have an idea of how aggressive these are.

They sound find. Make sure they overlap well. They should touch up any areas that haven’t shed by 3 weeks time to avoid patchiness.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I don’t actually have really dense growth on my face, just really medium coverage on the lower part of my face, then my upper lip which is kinda dense, and chin which is dense. Everything else is less density so maybe she felt she didn’t need to use the 18.

Next time I go in I’ll ask her about the overlapping. If I go back in 3 weeks with growth that hasn’t shed should I ask them to get these at no cost, or should I pay for the touch up session too?

Okay great, thank you guys that’s really good to know. One question I have is about my chin. Basically the next day after the treatment I had little dark spot areas on my chin that basically looked like bruises. They weren’t super dark, and there was no visible blood vessels or anything, just dark spots. Didn’t seem to happen anywhere else on my face. Over the last couple days they’ve gone away, but is this an indicator of a problem?

May be a little pigmentation. Not a huge deal if it goes away within a day or two.

Yeah, it went away in like 3 days and now looks fine. So I’m thinking it’s just pigmentation.
