Gentle Yag

Hello,

So I always thought the laser being used at my clinic was a Gentle Lase… however, after some more research… i went back for a 3rd treatment and found out that its a Gentle YAG.

Is this why the treatments have not been as successful? is the alexandrite laser much better? I am middle eastern skin (not caucasian but really light skinned) and I have extremely thick black hair. I dont know about being burnt… i have never gotten a sun burn… but also ive never been in the sun too long recently…

the settings she used are … 40J/cm2 20 ms and 2.00 somethin

ne one?

Perhaps a laser specialist type will answer this when they check in. We are all volunteers here, answering questions as we desire or when we can. Lagirl is checking in less fequently, so be patient if you can.

Are you shedding within 1.5 to three weeks? What areas? Does it hurt? Skin reaction? You have only had three treatments? Have you addressed your concerns to them? What did they say?

If you are Middle Eastern but VERY LIGHT SKINNED, Gentlelase would be better. If your choice is GENTLEYAG only, it is good for coarse hair but you should suggest to your provider to use
a lower Millisecond ( pulse width ) than 20 Msc. That should work better.

i shed normally within 3 weeks… however not all hair comes off… and yes it hurts very much… skin reaction isnt big… just redness for like an hour… and yes ive only had three treatmeants… my concern is that after three treatmeants i took some time off because of summer… and all my hair pretty much grew back normal like i got nothing done ever… so maybe it snot working at all… and yes at this clinic i only have gentle yag choice but I am thinking of switching clinics… the only problem is cost… i have addressed the problem with the clinic however they just kind of brush it off… not too good at english so its hard to communicate… only reason i go there is cuz its super cheap

It hurts very much because Yag is for skin type 5-6 and according to you, you are probably around 3 which means either a Gentlelase or a diode laser. The difference is that because it’s not meant for your skin type then it hurts ALOT so they need to lower the settings much which then isn’t able to kill the hair like it should.

so i should go for alexandrite laser then? it would be worth the money i guess

how about the Soprano?? does that work for lighter skinned people as well as an alexandrite laser?

An alexandrite laser such as the GentleLase is considered the best of the best. If you are a type I or II it would be worth your effort to seek out a consult.

Soprano is a diode and will work well on light skin. GentleLase is considered to be more powerful.

The advantage of the Soprano is the speed and the virtually painless treatment.

hmm… i have a lot of thinking to do on which way i should go… on a side note… now that i have been reading the forum more often… i am more educated then I was before…and first off would like to thank all those that take their time to answer questions… it means a lot…

i know some of the questions we ask can be repetitive and am very sorry for that… i try to search for stuff before i ask but sometimes its hard to find the correct information u are looking for…

i have read on some forums about Laser actually inducing hair growth on back and shoulders… now how can i tell if the hair i have on my shoulders is laser induced or not… i mean its pretty sick and corse… just as thick as chest hair you could say… but i feel like a couple of years back it was never this thick until I got my first ever treatment with Naturalase at HairFree… now it could be that more grew in as i got older so im not sure… is there anyway to tell if this hair was induced by laser?

One of the reasons we strongly suggest that people take before and progress shots during their hair removal is so that they can tell if they have anything like stimulation of new growth. It would be nice if all L.A.S.E.R. stimulated hairs grew in purple, so that we would know which ones they were, but that doesn’t happen.

If you have noticeably more hair in the treated area, and or your hairs have gotten thicker, and or changed color, then it is a good bet that you did get stimulation of growth. However, without good before and after photo’s, it would be hard to prove.

Most people know their bodies very well. I think you would know if you had laser hair stimulation. People just know that something really different happened to them within a short period of time after laser. I base this on feedback from my electrolysis clients who come to me for permanent hair removal to mop up the laser hair stimulation. Anecdotal? I know, but I fall back to the statement, people know their bodies well.

i guess they do… and i do too … but the the problem is… i would always keep the area shaved / waxed so i never knew how much i actually had… until i let it grow out… then i realized… woah this is way more than it was before… now that could mean 1 of 2 things… either the hair was induced through laser… or it was because i was only 18-19 at the time… and simply getting older meant having more hair. at the time i didnt know about laser induced hair so i just pushed it off as ugh… i must be getting hairier (if thats a word)… now im begininng to think it was induced… if the hair is laser induced is there no way of getting rid of it through laser? no matter how thick it is? why wont a better laser for example be able to target the menaline in this new induced hair… its pretty thick… like chest hair almost…

If the induced hair is coarse then the laser will kill it. If it’s fine then less likely it will be able to kill it.

Anyway, the laser doesn’t care if it’s induced or not, if the conditions are right then it will work.
