I know that many electrologist are aware of how to use the Galvanic Settings on their machines after the treatment to reduce redness but how many of us know that you can use this feature to assist any water based positively charged numbing agents to absorb/penetrate into the skin more readily thus cutting down on prep time?
Start by using the Galvanic on the negative setting as a low to medium setting.
Have you client hold the ground while you run the roller over the area to be treated. This is cause a mild dilation in the follicle preparing the for the next step. (if you wish you may also use a slightly alkaline dis-encrustation product to begin the electrochemical change in the follicle.)
Then switch your polarity on your Galvanic to the positive setting. Apply your numbing agent (water based usually sprays and most creams work best but You can still use an ointment but will not be as effective) to the treatment area.
Have your client hold the ground while you use the roller to gently roll over the treatment area for a few moments. This will push the positively charged product deeper into the follicles and between the layers of the skin cells. This process will also contract the follicles a small bit. If your numbing agent requires it, then this is where you would place your occlusive barrier over the treatment area.
After the area is numbed, and just before beginning treatment. Run the negative polarity over the treatment area for a few seconds to re-dilate the follicles for an easier entry of the needle.
You may also use this process after your treatment during post care with your calming serums/creams.
- remember to always include a mineral based .spf on any treatment areas that will be exposed to sunlight prior to leaving if the service ends during daylight hours. We have already caused inflammation in the skin during our treatment and we want to prevent further or prolonged inflammation from added UV exposure.
In Gratitude for ALL.
