Frequent tweezing/plucking from 36 tinklebells.

If you were tweezing/plucking with any frequency, then you should begin your electrolysis treatments ASAP.

You can’t wait for all the hair to grow back because some will shed before some others have a chance to grow back from the tweezing.

This is what I tell clients who have tweezed: How often you were tweezing is how often you should have a treatment. The exception to that is daily tweezing - and in that case you can have treatments every 5 to 7 days. The length of time spent tweezing in 5 to 7 days is about how long your appointments will be for the first month or so. For example, if you were tweezing 3 times a week for 5 minutes each time - then your weekly appointments will start out being about 15 minutes. If you were tweezing for 10 minutes every day then your weekly appointments will be around one hour to begin with.

What if I wait for a much longer time though? Like several months so pretty much all hair has grown back. I just get this feeling that in the end my wallet will be much lighter with sooo many small appointments than if I just get a couple of clearences and be done. I could be wrong.

And I contacted a place near my block. The person that would do the treatments is a young woman who only has 2 and a half years experience. They were also unable to estimate how fast they can work(hairs per minute etc). Plus because of the plucking it will be harder for her too. To some of you experienced ones, shouldn’t a good electrolysis have a lot of experience? I don’t want to get messed up by an incompetent one lol.
Thanks.

  • You should add your location to your profile in case people have recommendations in your area

  • Hair grows in cycles. The hair you will see in 2 months will be different hair. You need to get clearances on schedule of at least once every 4-5 weeks in order to kill all hair in all cycles of growth.

I still don’t really understand why I’d have to have frequent treatments early only because of the tweezing thing. And also if this way will be much more expensive at the end?

You don’t “need” to have frequent treatments early on. You only “need” to do it if you don’t want to clip or shave the hair for 3-4 weeks. Some people don’t want to do this and prefer to go in often to always remain hairfree. You only really NEED treatments once every 3-4 weeks. But that involves shaving or clipping in between appts and having longer sessions.

Yeah I would not have a problem walking around with the hair and only cutting it from time to time. I don’t want to go in every week just to be hairless the whole time. As long as this way I wont spend more money and time, I hope both ways are the same when it comes to that.

Two and a half years of practice is past novice in experience. If an electrologist is not successful, they have usually quit practicing before then.

Most people who tweeze a lot have a hard time stopping. For that reason, I recommend weekly treatments in the beginning. Shorter appointments are also easier on your skin because the hairs will not be so dense (number per square centimeter).

The exception to that recommendation is if you are tweezing a couple of hairs at a time and that tweezing is infrequent.

When you DO stop tweezing, you might be very shocked at how much hair you see within a few weeks. How often are you tweezing? How many minutes do you spend tweezing each time?

So I should atleast try out this particular electrologist? I don’t have much to lose I guess, it’s only a mile from my home.

And I used to tweeze several times a week. Nowadays it’s once a week I think and I would say for ten minutes or so. This is for unibrow and cheeks above beardline. It’s been almost 2 weeks since the last time I did and I do see more hairs growing back. A rough estimate right now is 150 to 200 hairs in total is what I can see but like you said I might have a lot more. I just don’t know since I never let everything grow for the past 5 years. And Barbara what do you think about my question above about the timespan/costs for frequent and infrequent treatments?

I really appriciate the help from all of you. Thank you.

Ah 36T - now I have enough information!

For the area and HR you have described, getting the area cleared every 2 to 4 weeks should get your project done within the year. Having the first 2 or 3 treatments a couple to three weeks apart should result in shorter appointments and less frequent appointments within a few months.

It should be quite safe to consult and go with this local electrologist. There is nothing to lose with a consultation!!!

Yeah sounds good. I will talk to to her on the phone and later go to the consultation(only downside is that they charge money for this unless you go forth with treatments) and listen to what she has to say, hopefully her knowledge will sound like what you guys talk about on here so I’ll feel reassurance. Thanks.

Would you be willing to allow her to give you a 15 minute treatment? Then that consultation is free? (Gives you an idea of the sensation and allows you to see how your skin reacts to treatment.)

Maybe I’m not sure yet. I’ll give them a call next week for sure.

Btw the prices are 35 euros for 30 min. and 45 for 45 min. Just putting it out there.

I have a consult next week so that should be interesting.

Like I’ve said im going in for my cheeks. to give some of you actual technicians an idea i have a picture to post anyway, maybe you can guess how much time/effort and so forth would go into this, or is it too much? anything would be appriciated

i’ll only want the dark hairs gone. the other side has less hair btw.

For MEEE, It would take less than an hour and would not be much effort at all. It is not too much hair for electrolysis, by no means.

I am with Dee here, I could clear this out in sample treatment time.

Cool, cool. Sound good thanks.

I had my first consultation today. Some good news and some bad.

First, my insurance covers most of the costs for treatments on my face. Very glad about that! Even more motivation for me to actually do this.

Now, when the technician looked at my face she didn’t seem confident about it. She also does laser, so she pretty much tried to convince me to do laser instead of electrolysis, and even said she didn’t feel like doing electrolysis there. Claiming it would take wayy too long, that I would only notice a diffirence in a year and a half, that laser is better etc. When I explained her that laser could induce the light hairs she didn’t agree with me.

What else should I have expected from someone who has only been doing electrolysis for less than 3 years lol. Even her knowledge on laser seems limited. Like she suggests treatments every 5 weeks?

Anyway I’m gonna try to get more consults soon with more experienced people instead. Summer is gonna start, is it a bad idea to start electrolysis now since it’s gonna be on my face?

Hi tinklebells. I am having treatment on my face. I have recently purchased skincueticals factor 50. It’s a physical sunblock so no chemicals which may react with treatment sensitive skin. Waiting for delivery to try it out.

My laser technician tried to persuade me to use laser on my face but I’ve done my research so…NO thank you!!!

Good job. Yes, I don’t care what they tell me, I’m not having laser on my face.

Great electroligists and laser is hard to find here in Holland. I wish they were as advanced as the people on this forum. I’m still looking and calling, maybe I have to travel the extra miles to the one Michael Bono recommended to me. I need a technician who is fast, effective and doesn’t damage me.

I’ve had some more consults lately.

Again the same thing. These people don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. They just don’t want to do electrolysis on my face. Only after I do atleast 5 laser treatments first.

I’m starting to run out of options here. I really think laser on my face is a bad idea bcause despite the many thick hairs, I have too many light hairs there too.

Oh what I would give to be around a real pro like James, Dee or any of the great techs on this forum.
