Freckle peeled off after LHR

I had a very dark freckle on my abdomen… I got LHR on my abdomen a few weeks ago and that night, the dark freckle peeled off with the ease of a loose scab. Underneath was like a tiny shallow red hole from the “scab” peeling off… it has now healed up and I can’t even tell where the dark freckle was in the first place.

I am not complaining, just thought it was kinda funny and wanted to share. I’m actually glad it’s gone! I know that laser targets dark pigment. In addition, I had/have a dark mole on my bikini line… since I’ve received so many LHR treatments on my bikini line, the dark mole has lost all pigmentation and is now completely flesh-colored!

Sorry to blow your happiness but keep checking on it ones in a while because freckle’s SHOULD never be removed as it can invoke skin cancer.
I know this sounds harsh but people have tried many ways in the past of removing them and I cannot see that LHR is any better than peeling them off yourself.
NEVER remove freckle’s or dark moles…it is very dangerous due to the possibility of skin cancer.
My dermatologist as well as my mother (who works in a hospital) told me this.
Why? the danger with an unprofessional lesion is that you don’t take away all the tissue so it can grow back even worse. It was harmless but once triggered by removing it, it can grow back in a dangerous form.
So for all security I would check on a docter just to be sure…

Maybe it sounds like I am scaring you ar something like that but that is not my intention…I just want to warn you that it is absolutely a no no to remove moles or freckles apart from professional surgical lesions…

Laser doesn’t remove them. It lightens them. The only “danger” is in not being able to see where it was before to be able to test it for cancerous cells in the future. In the US, cancerous moles can be removed by a surgeon.

Yes, it lightened the mole. However the dark freckle which was flat, just peeled right off.

To toeman, I seriously can’t see where it used to be. I think it’s gone and am not worried that a random freckle may cause cancer… if that was the case, I’d have hundreds of concerns for cancer with the amt of freckles spread out all over my body!

Well Marie…That is not what I meant.
One can have thousands of freckles…No problem at all…
BUT removing them yourself, even small ones is dangerous…
Just wanted to point it out…do with it what you want

I didn’t remove it myself though… it was burned off by the laser. Are you referring to me peeling it off? It was so loose it would have come off in the shower anyway.

I can’t be the only person to ever have this happen during laser hair removal… It’s probably more common than we think. I really don’t think it’s that dangerous because if it were, wouldn’t the laser tech need to avoid lasering over freckles? Yet this is never mentioned anywhere.

I think you’re referring to people who try remove moles at home on their own… there are alot of “home remedies” on the internet for home mole removal and yes that can be dangerous…

Same thing happened to me I had a dark birth mark or freckle on my abdomen as well. Not a mole, was perfectly smooth to the skin just a small round dark mark. When I did IPL she asked if she wanted me to go over it. I had asked what the difference was and she said it would fall off if she did so I said knock yourself out. After my second treatment it did just like yours, flaked away and came off. I can barely even tell where it once was when I look there now.

Removing/fading freckles is safe. Moles should not be lasered over without the approval of a physician. Better yet, just don’t laser it.

The freckles will return if sunburned or tanned, so use sunscreen if you want to keep them away.

ok than don’t believe it…it’s not my problem anyway…
do what you want with…For all I care you burn em all off…
Just wanted to say that from a skin docter and my mother (who is a surgeon, but still did medicine for that ofcourse) say it is cancer invoking to remove freckles, birthmarks or moles…
Now maybe 90% of the times this doesn’t happen…but there is a 10% chance it CAN.

It is the same as denying smoking can cause lung cancer.

Well this is it. I quit discussing in a topic where everybody seems to be the expert saying it is probably safe…Ohh well…Do what you want with it…

You’re confusing moles and freckles. Read Choice’s comment again.
