Forearms before and after with LHR

Hey everyone,

Was responding to the thread about reduction in the pubic region and was going to post some pictures there but thought I would here since more people would see them. These are just my current results on my forearms.

Picture 1 - Didn’t take a good before shot unfortunately but found this one in my album from a couple years ago, seems to give the idea.

Picture 2 - This picture is around 9 weeks after my second session. I don’t have one after just 1 session. Session 1 was with GentleLASE and session 2 was with Apogee Elite. I believe the schedule was I did 1 with GentleLASE, waited around 8-9 weeks, then did session 2 with Apogee Elite, then 9 weeks later took this picture. You can see how the hair came back way thinner which is why I caution people when they want to do just a reduction with LHR. On my underarms it actually did come back reduced but as you can see on my forearms here, looks really unnatural I think.

Picture 3 - This picture is after my 3rd session this time with Apogee Elite again. This one is still early, it’s been 5 weeks since that treatment but gives you an idea:

I love this one such a huge difference. Forearms were never an area that bothered me but I figured why not since I’m a bit obsessed with laser hair removal now. I’m SO happy with the results so far.

Hope that helps!

Those are great results! Thanks for sharing the pictures

All looks good. The original photo looked good and normal too

Out of curiosity how was the shedding process on your forearms after treatments? Since the hair there is finer was it slower than underarms/no pepper spots?

Shedding was pretty much the same as anywhere else I’ve done. Pretty much started right around day 7 and took a few weeks to fully shed. After the first 2 treatments there definitely were pepperspots but I found that 3-4 weeks after the treatment they were just all gone. Same with after my 3rd session, a week or so after hair would just fall out. I find it harder to make it fall out with a loofa like on my face or what not but it seems like just after a few weeks you look and your arms are smooth.

Looking good, and with your skin color and dark hairs you were a perfect laser hair removal canidate for sure. Congrats now enjoy your new aerodynamic hairless forearms this summer!

That looks amazing - after only 3 treatments too! Congrats!

Thanks everyone! I’m in the hair free period still right now so I’m sure hair will definitely be back as again it’s only 3 sessions but happy with the results so far. The second picture was around 9 weeks since the 2nd treatment so still a pretty good time period for the hair to grow back, and as you can see it’s def very thin so I imagine I’ll have even better results this time. Forearms are tricky to treat, I get the biggest reaction on my skin on them, mainly because I think they see the sun more than most body parts. Again this is all treatment with an alexandrite which I love!

can you also give us your skin type and the settings used?

My skin type is 3. Unfortunately I have no idea settings used, how bad is that! I know the first session was 18mm on GentleLASE and pretty sure around 18J. For the last few I’m not sure. I know I should know that but I always do so many areas in one session. I know for Apogee it’s always 15mm of course since that’s largest spot size. I do know though that it hurts just as much if not more as the GentleLASE did, so I know it’s similar settings, and I also know that the setting she uses for me she’s told me she’s never gone so high on anyone before, and refuses to go any higher. I can ask next time though. My arms are weird, they react way different than any other body part. After a session, they’re super red, and bumpy like as if they’re covered in hundreds of mosquito bites that lasts for 30 minutes or so. My face gets red but no bumps, and underarms, abdomen etc gets slightly red which is gone in 15 minutes.

Apogee has an adjustable pulse width, do you’d need to ask for that too. With GentleLASE, it’s fixed at 3ms, so you don’t have to think about it. But with Apogee, it could be at lowest of 10ms or it could be 30ms. As you know, 3ms vs 30ms makes a difference.

Lowest is 5ms I believe vs GentleLASE’s 3. I’ll ask next time to see, but the reason I haven’t before is because she’s always changing it around depending on the area, like she’ll do my arms, then she’ll do my hands and make adjustments to it and so on.

Hiya Edokid,

Thanks for sharing your experience and posting those pics. When I had laser done on my face on Tuesday my technician hinted that I should do my arms and chest. I’ve got to admit that I’m now considering it, but haven’t decided just yet. I really like the results you’ve got from it…

Thanks! Keep in mind those areas are easier to treat than the face, you get faster results where face is a slower process.

Hi there,

I’ve been looking to do my arms and hands for years, don’t know why i didn’t.Seem to have some sort of mental block. I went through last summer again as all summers covered up.i’m determined to get over this problem but think i’ve left it too late again and any treatment now would result in me having to cover up again.
Is it possible for me to begin treatment now, even with electrolosis and be able to wear t-shirts for the summer. I have skin type III and dark hair,my arms grows long, straight and thick hair which extends up all my arms. I live in london, any clinics recommended.
edokid i would love to have your determination and confidence at dealing with your hair issues, exactley what i need to do.

  • If you want most of the hair gone, you’ll need about 6-8 treatments spaced 2 months apart. However, you’ll already see results after one treatment.

  • Although you will be able to wear t-shirts, it’s best to keep the areas you’re treating untanned. So you’d have to use high SPF sunblock and try not to expose them too much. If you get a tan, you can’t treat the area as aggressively due to potential for burns.

  • Run a search here for London. There are several threads with recommendations.

  • Please read the FAQs about laser. Also, just want to make sure you understand that laser and electrolysis are two different methods.

Ok thank you,

I will have a look and hopefully pick the right clinic. I will keep the the progress recorded in posts.

You’ll be able to wear tshirts in a sense that your arms won’t look funny to other people or anything like that, but as LAGirl mentioned you have to watch you don’t let them tan. With your arms its SO easy to get darker since they’re constantly exposed to the sun so just have to watch as summer can be a tough time to start such a visible area.

Thanks for posting these. I started a thread on thinning hair in the pubic region. I see what you mean about getting an unnatural look. I think I’ll start the process and see how it looks after 1 or 2 sessions. If it looks anything like your 2nd picture I guess I’ll go for bald.

Again, I appreciate the photos tremendously.

No problem! I’ll keep posting the updates with them, as hair is starting to come back a bit again (as there’s only been 3 sessions) so we’ll compare the difference. Keep in mind as well in my second photo that’s only something like 8 or 9 weeks after the last treatment, can’t remember exactly just woke up too tired to check my first post! So if I left it 6 months or so for any hair that wanted to come back to fully do so, it may be a bit fuller.
