hello all. i am Tom. and some of u may remember me from my posts regarding having electrolosis done on my back in medford. i had a post going while i was doing that. I had gone there for a year and seen little to any lasting improvements, and i was getting annoyed. and i won this promational 300 dollars off a laser hair removal package at american laser centers (the laser is a laser light sheer diode by lumins.
i went in skeptical. and to prove to me it would work they gave me a free treatment. for 2 weeks its grew back and i was pissed and then it all fell out and it was bald for 6 weeks straight. and i was thrilled. then for the last 2 weeks is started growing in again but was MUCH thinner hair and patchy… and I went through the growing and shedding again but this time i hardly had any regrowth. i will show you in the pics below. i did not shave or do anything after the second treatment, and i too this picture the day before my 3rd apt. 10 weeks to the day apart.
i was very skeptical about laser because when i was in high school i bought a package of 10 from nuvo laser centers and it did nothing. but this laser really works for me. i had a free treatment at a local dermatologist to see if his worked too and it did not. so for me the laser light sheer diode by lumins is amazing. i suggest going to a lace that uses that laser and asking for a free sample treatment or at least buying 1 treatment to see that it works for you before you do electrolysis or continue temporary solutions any longer.
Super stuff to see. Good for you Tom. So, you have had three treatments since the beginning of April? The diode seems to be working for you so far. Keep telling us your story.
thanks for reporting back. try to space your treatments 12-16 weeks apart now for maximum benefit on this area.
btw, you didn’t “win” those $300 off. it’s just their marketing tactic to get people in the door and sell them packages that are usually the same price or more expensive as other clinics. what is good in your case is that they’re still using LightSheer. Most of the other locations of this chain clinic switched to other much less effective machines due to their deal with Syneron and there have been a lot of complaints about the lack of results from them on this forum. I would beg the clinic to keep this machine. It sounds like they know how to use it too, which is not necessarily the norm for these chains.
Yeah i know i didnt “win” it, but it still got me into the door. anyway i called today about my chest and abs to see if i could start that too. they said they would give me a free treatment on my chest and Abs so that i can see that it will work which is sweet. if it does, i was quoted $1800. which is about what i wanted to spend.
For the laser, yeah! im stoked that they are using the laser light sheer diode by lumins… if the Portland one did not have this laser i would have stuck with Eugene. while i was in there the technition working on me told me not to go to other locations specifically because of that particular laser being way better than any of their others. so that was cool. my apt for my next back/shoulders and my first Chest Abs is October 22.
ill take pics then!
6 treatments, and then 2 years of treatments from the date of the last of the 6th… its their 2 year guarantee
so thats great
and with the results im having on my back, i should know from the free one if it will work on my chest and stomach. im excited!
My experience with the Light Sheer is as follows. About 3 years ago before going on an extended holiday I had about 5 sessions with a clinic. I have pale skin with dark hair so I was a good candidate. Over the course of the treatments the hair grew back less and less and by the end of the 5 it was pretty much all gone.
I was delighted and continued to be for about 2 years. Alas, about 1 year ago it started coming back and now my back has a fair bit of hair on it again.
The original hair was not very thick but it covered most of my back bar a V shape at the mid base. Nowadays it isnt as thick as it was but its a still a bit depressing that it has returned.
I must admit that it was almost worth it to be hair free for two years while I lived it up on various beaches around the place but its annoying me that it has returned. I’m almost tempted to go for one or two more sessions to see if it gets killed off for a cpl more years!! (Any opinons on this?)
I cant remember the settings that were used because I have lost contact with the world of hair removal since. I thing the setting got up as far as 35 (possibly 40) by the final treatment. No topical painkillers were used, just a cpl of nurofen. Still it was pretty painfull when they zapped my collar bones area (got shoulder done too).
Dont want to dampen things for you just wanted to let you know my experience.
Cheers
JC
How do you know that these are the same hairs returning that were treated 2 years ago?
You are still a young man and most likely these are NEW hairs that are emerging that were not a problem two years ago. It sounds like you need to get those new hairs treated and will have to do maintenance, as needed, for the next several years most likely.
I think you sound like a success story, but you just need to go with the flow of the hair follicles that “decide” to come forth when nature calls and eliminate them on an as needed basis, like you did the first batch. I think you are lucky that you only needed 5-6 treatments on your back the first time.
What you’re describing sounds like NEW hair your body is developing, not previous hair coming back. Also, 5 treatments is usually not enough. Men usually require 8-10 on their backs, and spaced 12-16 weeks apart.
thank you for the story jackie!
however, I always heard that if a hair does not come back in 1 year, it can be presumed dead. is this what others have heard too? as in if hair comes back after a year, it is not the treated hair, but a new one.
Thanks
Tom
Some hairs can have longer hair growth cycles than 5-6 months. It’s a difficult question to answer because hair is tough and that’s why it can be such a frustrating, unpredictable enemy to chase.
