For male hair removal.

I think I have type II or maybe III skin. My body hair is mostly black.

I have unwanted hair on my neck, shoulders (sparce), a patch on my upper back and one on my lower back.

These are simply embarrassing, and I want to get rid of them. After some research it seems that laser is the way.

It seems that while I’m getting rid of that hair I might as well get rid of the hair growing on my abdomen and chest as well.

Alexandrite or Diode?

Any partical brands recommended?

Also, I’m not sure I want to get rid of all the hair on my chest. I wouldn’t mind keeping some for a natural look. Is this possible with laser? Will it not be irregular or patchy?

And one last question.

In the meantime before I get the laser treatment (probably in a month or 4) is there any reason not to wax? I have never done so before, and I would like to have an idea of what I would look like without the hair before going ahead.

Thanks for any advice,

Ben

  • Laser is not good for patches of hair, sparse hair, etc. So you need electrolysis for those areas to avoid stimulating more growth which can happen with laser on these areas.

  • Chest is fine to treat with laser. Alexandrite is best. GentleLASE is one of the best machines.

  • You can wax, no problem. Definitely test it out.

  • For a reduction, you wouldn’t want more than 3-4 treatments. They have to be good treatments without missing spots to avoid patchiness.

  • You may not want to start treatments in the summer. You need to avoid tanning during treatments and they’re spaced about 2 months apart. So it will take about a year overall.
