For all of you with love (by Martha).

By the mid-90s, I was invited to lecture in Seville. I only had half an hour to make my presentation, so I had to spend considerable time in preparing the text to include as much information as I could.
As the great Churchill said: I need ten minutes to prepare a two-hour lecture and two hours to prepare a conference of 10 minutes.

I collected enough photos of cases to illustrate each concept I wanted to expose. I Thought that too much realism would end up boring the audience, so I thought making a short story in comic form to leave a beautiful memory in my colleagues. My daughter Martha who was then 6 or 7 years devoted much time to her favorite hobby then, the drawing. She knew how to give life to any inanimate object, no matter how unusual that is. So I thought to use her naive drawings in my presentation. I wanted to explain in concise and easily one of the phenomena that occur with Electrolysis, the revitalization of the cycle in the follicles surrounding unaffected directly by the needle.

Michael insisted that I share this with readers Hairtell, the artist, who has grown a lot has agreed and here is our little story:

Can you guess who picked up the applause that day?

yes, Martha (my little artist).

Put a smile on my face, very cute I really like it! Excellent work!

Lovely and entertaining! My thanks to you and your Martha, both!!

This would make a very consumer-friendly youtube video. I hope you will consider it, Josefa!

I’ve been smiling all day thinking about this. I like!

My God, Barbara, I had to make 120 drawings for 3-minute video of the natural cycle of the hair follicle. Maybe if I had help. Michael, what do you say, you dare?

Oh! It doesn’t need to be complicated! A very brief explanation of the pictures while showing them would be fabulous, I think! I love the colors and the stories that are visible in your daughters drawings.

Oh, that’s no problem, dear. I’ll try to translate the script of this tiny cartoon.
In the first bullet, we present the three protagonists of the story:

Three happy follicles are doing what they should, ie, producing hairs.

Do you know Barbara? I have often found people who confuse these two concepts, Hair & Follicle, and sometimes teachers forget to clarify this so basic point.
I like to use an example to help understand the majority of the students I’ve trained:

Our goal is the “nest” (follicle, invagination into the skin), the “bird” (hair), only serves as a guide to find the nest.

The choice of trio of protagonists is not casual, I wanted to show the usual arrangement of the follicles in the skin. So, they usually form groups of three (sometimes groups of 4 or 5).

Our 3 friends are not illegal, they have a name that identifies in the classification of types of hair, and a number that indicates the level they have achieved in the cycle.
The first two are called Terminal Anagen VI (when the hair shaft has appeared on the surface of the skin).
The baby hair is called Terminal Anagen V (just when the cone reaches the hair follicle ostium).
