I am a male in my sixties and have epilated and waxed my legs for many years . This continual tearing out of the hair has over time produced more and more ingrowns and angry hair folicles , especially on pressure points and in the creases .I have finally decided the time has come to get some laser work done . I know its all a bit late at my age but its seems to be the only way I can get the results I want . Because I am in the older age bracket I thought it may be of interest to the forum to post results of my sessions , just to compare results with other age groups . The reduction may be better or worse ,I don’t know.
I am white male , fair complexion , fairly course hair .
treatment area …full legs , most of lower body
my first session booked is next week
Please read our FAQs below. You don’t mention the laser type and you already booked the treatment. It worries me that you may not have done enough research to pick a truly knowledgeable clinic that not only has a good machine, but will also use good settings.
Is the hair dark, dense and coarse? That’s the only type of hair that laser works on.
Hi LAgirl,
the clinic is run by three doctors…(real doctors ,not the send away for cert types) specialising in treatent of many skin conditions , veins ,cosmetic procedures ,tattoo removal etc. and has been operating for about 15 years
A part of their clinic deals with hair removal and the lady I dealt with and who will be doing my sessions , although not a nurse appears very knowledgable and has several years experience on lasers .She said that taking my skin and hair type into concideration she felt from past experience I will get pretty good results with 4-5 sessions
The laser is a Coolglide ,not sure of the model ,I’ll check it out on my first session .
I’m skin type 3-4 light europeon course dark hair.
will keep you posted
Coolglide is a Yag and best for darker skin types. It’s fine on your skin, but if you’re light enough for good settings on an alex laser, then it would be better since it’s more powerful.
Do ask for joules, spot size, and pulse width used.
Whether they’re doctors is really not that relevant in hair removal. In fact, most doctors don’t have enough time to dedicate to the difficult practice of hair removal. The best people in hair removal are those who do it every day many times per day for years. So the more time they spend on doing other irrelevant skin treatments, the less time they can dedicate to hair removal and knowledge about it. This is explained in the FAQs.
Good luck and keep us informed on your progress.
