I’m going for my first appointment to get rid of my unibrow (which I used to pluck myself).
Problem is, the person I’m going to could only fit me in 24 hours before I have to make an important “appearance” – meaning I can’t have any redness/irritation/bumps!
You could reschedule your electrolysis appointment and shave or clip the area since you have an important appearance. If you were sure that your electrologist could give you a treatment and you would be back to normal in a couple hours, then you would have no dilemma here, however, you have nothing to go by since this is your first appointment. It is highly possible to get treated with electrolysis and then be on your way to go about normal life, but this is practitioner dependent, and it could be equipment dependent as well. The other thing to factor in is, your own skin type and its own healing powers.
So, it’s only hair and if you want to be on the safe side, you can reschedule the appointment and shave the area until you have a new appointment. Hair is loyal. It will grow back in 1-3 days after you shave. This is the best way to disguise your unibrow, but be careful to shave or clip responsibly. I asked my middle aged husband to go clip his eyebrows one day and he came out of the bathroom minus the lower third of his eyebrows.
I’ve never had any reaction on this area that lasted more than a couple hours (redness). But you don’t know how YOUR skin will react yet, so I would schedule the first appt after your meeting just to be safe. And make sure to use proper aftercare. Purchase some witch hazel at the pharmacy.
Unfortunately, no. I woke up the next day and I still had plenty of fine hairs. He probably pulled out ~10-15 or so hairs, I would guess. I was only there for a few minutes. Thing is, I shave/pluck so I had to go on a shave/pluck-free 3-4 day vacation before I saw him. He picked out most of the thick hairs, though.
Should I expect him to miss the really fine hairs?
you need to schedule at least a 15 minute appointment depending on how much hair you have to remove. also, you will need a series of treatments to get rid of the hair permanently as hair grows in several phases. so it will take several treatments spread out over 9-12 months. you need to schedule longer appts up front so you can clear everything you want and then come in as soon as you see new hairs pop up in those offending areas so he can kill them while they’re still weak.
You should be specific about which hairs you want removed. Some prefer having every hair removed which results in a “I’ve had something done” look while other prefer to remove only the darkest and/or coarsest hairs which provides a more natural “I was born with this” appearance.
It’s easy for us to take more out. Putting them back is a whole other problem.
